So is the Gordini simply a cosmetic make over? Not one single mechanical edge over the standard 200? No masses of weight saving, etc?

D.

I think the only difference is - Soppy White stripes/Front moustache/Wing mirrors - Daft shadowed Blue wheels - Gordini badge lower rear quarter.

Interior - Full leather with Blue detailing - Blue detailing on steering wheel/gear knob and gearknob suround - Bluetooth as standard.

Same and set-up as a normal 200, just have the privilege of paying more for it to look cheaper (IMO)

While i agree that the use of the Gordini brand for little more than a style make over is a very bad decision on Renaults behalf, in terms of value for money the Gordini does work out cheaper than spec'ing a fully loaded normal 200.

So its not all bad, if you like your creature comforts and gadgets than the Gordini is value for money.

As said it's a cosmetic change which is a bit of a shame but I considered it more of a homage to the Gordini brand of old rather than a follow up. Also, I'm far more a fan of the Twingo 133 Gordini than the Clio 200 Gordini. There are a list of small hatches now with stripes and lairy styling, the Twingo can pull off the look because it's a tiny car. The Clio looks a little awkward all dressed up and if I'd been in the market for a Clio 200 I'd not have gone for the Gordini.

That said, on Twingo Gordini I have, the interior is a step above the poverty spec interior of a standard 133 and for me that made the difference. Also, the book price of a Twingo 133 Gordini is £14,500. My Mrs ordered a glacier white 133, with the black/white packs, panoramic roof and Cup chassis and the book prices ended up £100 more than mine.

As above, if you want all the toys in a car then the Gordini has everything chucked in. Full leather, climate control, MP3/Bluetooth stereo etc.

I've heard people moan that Renault using Gordini as a trim choice rather than a stripped out racing special edition is - "Sacrilege" to the Gordini heritage. Personally I don't see why they both using the name at all, as for the market I feel the cars are aimed at - the name 'Gordini' probably doesn't mean anything anyway.

I couldn't agree more to be honest. Most people that buy the Gordini range will buy it for the leather seats and looks rather than because there is some heritage to it. For me it was both though, I took notice of the spec of the car and liked the fact that it had the Gordini name, even if it was a little less deserving than it could be.
