i have heard i need to run a direct feed to the battery... why?

its due too the higher output of the internal amp.

if the stock wiring is capable of doing 15A (i think thats whats in the 9835) then you may not have too.

put it as close to the batt as poss and only put the same size fuse in it as in the back of the hu

I have a 9835 and, you dont need a direct battery feed.

im confussed, dont know much about stereos and speakers ect!!!

why would some need a direct feed and others not then other than the capacity of the wire?!!?

its only because the stock wiring cant handle high currents and some of the alpine range have large current draws, if it say it needs a direct battery connection, connect it direct to the battery and dont take the risk. If you connect it to the stock wiring and it cant handle the current the H/U wont reform as well as it can and also the wires may get hot any cause a fire risk. As for an inline fuse it should already have one on the wire.

dont really want much of a system, my williams has got 4 4" rounds and thats it. so no amps are really needed....

ahhhh so you will be running speakers off the hu, in that case if it says it needs a direct batt connection then thats what you will have to do

thats the plan yeah but i might incoporate a 8" sub as my current set up does not provide much bass but with it being a williams i dont want to change much any advise

fitted it today, still not got my head around all the function but i can seriously say..... AWSOME, the sound is so much clearer.

just need a tad more base, any ideas?

Good Set of Components up front
Single 10" sub

all run off one 4 channel amp (or 2 amps - 1 mono and 1 stereo)

just stick a little all in one sub and amp box in from motorworld or something. Thatll give you a bit more bass, not take up much room and isnt perminant. Like you say its going in a wiliams not a ICE van.

Yeah but what Bryan has suggested isnt going to make it and ICE van. You wont even see the comps.

I would suggest sound deadoning the doors and then fitting a small 8 inch and box and amp



This would give you a lot more bass, the Alpine unit (Same as mine )) has a dedicated sub out so you can tweak to your hearts delight and the H/U has enough power to give your fronts an ok sound

You could do this for about £150 I reckon if you stick to cheap or second hand stuff

As you are just looking for abit of bass, not a SQ install and are not too up on fitting maybe an aftermarket bass box/amp combo would be a good investment?

been looking on the net and the sort of set up im looking at is as follows.

considering all JL audio equipment.

swap my current JBL 4" rounds for some JL ones.

Either JL audio 6x9s or 6.5" mid range

and like you said a 8"sub with a 3 channal amp then is should be okay and not over the top i wouldnt have thought.

i know everyone slates 6x9s but my mate has a fully kitted out custom boot with 3 10" subs and he changed his 8" round for 6x9s and it sounds mint but far to load for my tasts it rattles your rib cage
