Got a few pennies, and want some more power, what to go for?

I have about £1500 and i want to do somethin to the 182, i quite like the handeling already ( i have sportlines on standard shocks, and cant practically go any lower ) i currently have a full miltek and decat. Basically i want some more power just something to bring a little smile to my face, i hav been thinking about a few things, from just a group n remap and a good IK, matched inlets, to cams, and even putting abit to to get ITB or the low compression turbo kit ( but still unsure as i dont want to make myself skint ) i just wanted peoples opinions on whats best and where to go for it, and also if people have had stuff done what gains they got and their experiences, thanks.

Upgrade Brakes then Matched Inlets, Improved Air Filter and a Remap and if you're still wanting more Cam's and another Remap to get the most out of them

RS performance is not worth touching. Fast enough in std guise.

Buy another set of wheels, R888 and a set of pads. Then enjoy it.

i have been reading abit about the super cup mani, is it for throttle boddies on standard ecu? sorry not been on for a while and theres so many threads that mention it but not fully, i was thinking shall i wait for that, or go for cams that will then work together with them? and cant go r888 its a daily driver . . . . . . and the misses drives it :quiet: good brakes are a maby and then a map etc?

Supercup mani is basically a replacement inlet system, so it basically it does the same kind of thing as having ITBs but its an alternative to, and works on standard management with remap which will be provided with the kit.

its not a 'little' bit more though to go ITBs. ITBs currently require aftermarket management so thats an extra grand before you even get into the fact the supercup mani should be cheaper than the bodies them selves, and you get top keep standard management so keep cruise control etc and dont have a christmas decoration for a dash.

^^^ What this guy says.

You can spend a small fortune on breathing mods like exhaust, decat, filter, CAF, remap and even cams and it will be a bit quicker, but nothing that wont leave you wanting more. R888's are in my opinion the best mod for the money, failing that save up and go for ITB's or a low boost turbo or charger kit. No idea on this supercup inlet, but there's no pics, no info and no data to support the common forum opinion that it will be better than ITB's etc etc etc. Cant see it myself

:( mines like that without any supercup inlets or ITBs lol

As good as the 888's are, British weather dosnt really warrant them?

Misconception, they are fine. In the wet I'd prefer a set of heated R888's over a standard road tyre. Sure they get a bit interesting with reasonably deep standing water, but other than that they are fine I found

Good comment, Ive never owned or experienced 888's so speaking what ive heard

What about fitting polybushes and ktecs stiffer mounts to give a tighter feel to the car

If its just something to bring a smile to your face then personally i would fit Nitrous. 10lb bottle in the boot with a progressive controller and a 50 hp jet. Fit a toggle switch onto the acc pedal and away you go - 13.5's all day long

Common problem in this place, heresay becomes fact all too easily lol (so don't listen to anyone, me included!). I can honestly say I've never felt unsafe in the wet with them, even on track they were nice and progressive and deffinitely worth spending the money on, just don't buy R888 SG's for road use as they wont last 5 minutes, the R888 GG's are the ones to have (mid compound, SG's are super soft)

As for bushes, not really keen, I like standard, but solid mounts are a good addition. It really depends on you and how you drive as to whether or not you'll like them, best bet is blag a drive of someone's car on here who has them! ;)

ok well i think i have decided against the turbo or ITB route for the time being, or atleast untill the supercup mani is tryed and tested, i need 2 new tyres anyway, the r888's will my misses be ok driving with them in the wet? i have the same problem its all hear say and mainly from people who dont know lol, r888's what kind of mileage can you get from them in general normal driving? i quite like the thought of r888's a good set of pads and discs and a map and maby a ik, or is the map not even worth it?

should last a good 10k of road driving and the wife should be fine in them. As for women, cant comment on that, they struggle with driving full stop usually ;)

Map and IK not even worth if in my own 'personal' opinion, plenty of others will disagree, but the gains are so small I see it as a waste of time for the money. Boosted applications yes, map it for sure, but that's £500 or whatever towards a set of tyes, pads, discs and maybe a reduced price trackday. Personally I'd just save the cash, enjoy the car as it is now and put it towards a faster car or some proper engine mods that will see more than 10bhp

hmmmm, sounds as though a full set of r888's are a must, anyone got any recomendations on pads and disc's whilst im on here, and i know im searching now, just thought i would ask in the mean time.

discs not sure on, still not found a set I like that dont cost a small fortune and still fit, pads 1144's are a great road pad as are DS2500's (they eat standard discs for fun though in my experience). For a track pad, Pagid blue and PF97's are excellent too, squeek and squeel a bit on the road though as you never get enough heat in them, so if you dont do trackdays they can get tiresome.

10k did seem alot to me? the car is mostly every day driving and not alot at that most days it doesnt even move, the gg tyre are a harder compound could 10k be gotten out of them? i think im going to go for new tyres and new front discs / pads as rear aren't worth it? still not convinced about a map although i may still look into it, and just a penel filter just to raise the rev limiter / run abit smoother, will a rs tuner do that?

You are going to get less miles out of R888s than a normal road tire. I have so far managed about 7'500 miles out of my contis, but they will need changing very soon, so no way I would get anywhere near 10k out of them.

Rs tuner will give higher rev limiter and smooth the power out

They wont last as long as a normal road tyre sure, but you must drive a lot harder on the road than me as I get 15-20k out of a set normal road tyres.
