Decided to go and drive it as it was dry and I hadn't done that yet, was all going well and gripping nicely then it started raining and for some reason the car changes, it suddenly wants to oversteer everywhere, not sure if its dangerous or fun.

You are asking top money for it though, and its not original. You'll have to be patient at that price.

Personally I'd sell the '5 and keep the '36 lol

It comes with the original wheels though :( and tbh I have no idea what its really worth, pricing seems to be all over the place.

You put it on BMW Owner?

I wouldn't take less than 2 for it, mind letting me know how much the cruise control retrofit cost you?

Put the original wheels on it IMO, will be more attractive then :)

Yeah i wont let it go for less than 2, I think the cruise control cost about £120 as I got it off an M3 and had to buy a bowden cable from BMW, was dead easy to fit though.

I would put them on, the problem is they are currently split and need a refurb, I was going to do it then decided I didn't want the car anymore.

Ah cool, I've heard of people doing it for like £30 if you can find one in a scrappy - just haven't been arsed to go hunting yet lol.

It's something I really do want though, hoping Jord can sort me out when he removes it from his (hey Jord)

I have had a look around scrappies but could never find decent parts so got it off a breaker instead, was definitely worth doing though.

A pain to get used to but a bonus once you're there, no? You can change gear with the left hand, steer & indicate with the right. Personally it's always made more sense to me on manual RHD cars.

This man talks sense!

Worth around 2k I reckon considering the full history. The car is in good nic and a good colour.

Just realised, I also went from a clio to a 328 then a MX-5. You'll be in a 200 next.

Just an FYI I bought mine with M3 wheels, heated seats, no rust other than the bootlid on 133k for 1400 quid. No idea on what kind of condition yours is in, but 2k is strong money for one!

I would rather keep it than sell it for that little tbh. I reckon you got quite a good deal, most around that price seem poor to me.

The fogs are going asap! your car looks really nice btw, looks just the right height.

The worst part about owning this car is that people don't understand it, I tell them its fun and the just say its old and s**t. Its really aggravating especially when they claim to be car people!

Had the exact same issue in mine from people driving corsas etc. called all sorts of names in work, until one day in the winter I arrived into the car park sideways, with roof down in the snow. :D

Lol I have the exact same !! They are clueless and I always respond saying their opinion doesn't count as they know absolutely nothing about cars and invite them for a ride

Yeah I tried that already, they reckon they would enjoy it but its s**t cos its old... and new cars are much better. Meh if they don't want understand I am not going to waste my time trying to teach them.

I am liking it so far, it has winter tyres so that's a bit s**t and it feels dangerous in the wet. Other than that it's great fun

Winter tyres, dangerous in the wet?
Odd.

Have you had the alignment checked over at all yet?

I dont think its the winter tyres making it dangerous, i am confident the alignment is out. I have booked it in tomorrow with my local specialist to find out what's up.

  Celica GT for now
Looks a pretty sweet car, did it come with hair clippers or were they optional? :rasp:

Nah I'm joking, My friend has one, the first time I took it out I spun it on a roundabout, burst out laughing and then bought my first RWD car (MR2)

With regards to it being a bit skittish in the back in rain it may not just be the tyres, I'd be checking the rear ARB and drop links, My friend recently drove his, the rear drop links failed and after putting his toe down on a straight bit of road it threw him straight into the central reservation :(

Here's a pic of his anyways :)

You have any plans or just throw it around and enjoy it?

Hopefully the broad speed lads can sort it for me, I can't wait to get it 100% and get some proper tyres on it.

My plans are to maybe get some gaz or bc coilovers on it when the Beemer sells, I wouldn't mind some bbs wheels for it too.

Ah ok fair enough, Paul's just bought some Meister's for his and rates them quite highly, Are you on Nutz too?

I'd recommend Rainsports for these if not then AD08's except you won't be able to drift it then as they're far too sticky lol, T1'R's are ok but where they're soft the shoulders wear through very quickly when driving them hard so it's a kind of a waste of money in some respects as they won't last long

Just my tuppence :)

I convinced all my mates to go for V12 Evos ready for Oulton and they were all pleased with them :)

This is good, Broadspeed seemed to rate them too so I will probably get some when someone actually buys the beemer.

RS-R are easily comparable to R888/A048 IMO, really capable tyre, its just peoples opinion of the 'Federal' brand that gives them a bad name on forums/the internetz (or more so people comparing them when they have never actually used them).

Used them on both my E36s, even with the 1300kg weight. They would be great on an MX5 I bet as Ste says. I know I'd rather be paying £60 a tyre for 205/45/16, having the same grip with a properly set up car and having them last longer, compared to £140 a tyre (!!) in the same size for R888/A048. I've used new and used R888s in various sizes over the years too, its just not even worth buying part worn track day tyres anymore with how well priced the Federals are.

Another thing to point out is how well the RS-R's have lasted too... I've done Bedford, Combe and Oulton on them along with a load of sprint days and they're still not dead yet!

I used to run both hankooks and RS-R's on my 172, I thought they both good in their own right. The RS-R's were a fantastic track tyre and I would definitely buy them again if funds allow.

Went down broad speed to check it out, they reckon it's pretty good and the tyres are the problem causing very little rear end grip.
