GPS speed camera alert , £59.99 in Aldi soon

Haha I just got mine. The queue at Aldi was mental, although I was literally the youngest person there by about 30 years. There was a kind of odd recognition between everyone, kindof, 'GPS thing?', 'Yeah'.
For the five minutes I've had it, it seems pretty good. It's already flagged up three mobile sites that I didn't know about, so it seems alright.

Position wise I've found it's just the right size to sit on top of the console, and see it through the wheel (mk1). I mean, I'm not going to leave it in the car when I park, and this is the easiest place to check my official speed.

Anyone know how often they update their end of the database?

^^ Haha same here, they were all looking at me as if I was an outsider! I ended up looking at the massive plasmas aswel! Got some half decent electrical offers in there to be fair.

Got to Aldi in Blackburn this morning at 8.45am , lots of old gimmers queueing . Didn't think much of it but they all made a dash for the pile of Talex , lol . They were all gone by 9.10am .

To update you need the subscription kit , which includes the usb lead which you need to download the updates , but its already preloaded with all the latest sites .

I couldn't register it on the internet for the 2 warranty without the subscription kit either because your issued with a system code in the kit . The woman on the phone said just keep hold of your receipt and that will be fine .

I'll look at getting the subscription kit at a later date .

^ Yeah I'm thinking the same to be honest. See how it goes for now and then maybe subscribe for the updates some time. Have a look round on the net to see if there is any cheap/free updates too maybe.

Where is everyone mounting these?

I've put mine slap bang in the middle of the dash , behind the little square on the windscreen . It wasn't giving me my speed so i checked if it was receiving a gps signal and it wasn't . I held it out the window and reset it again put it back on the dash and it worked .Don't know if i'm gonna have to stick it out the window everytime i set off or what , lol .

^ Apparently you shouldn't have to do that. I can't be arsed with hiding it away and then getting it out and plugging it in at the start of every journey.

Just been out again in the car and this time it worked spot on . Didn't need to hang it out the window when i started it up . Picked up 4 possible mobile sites and 3 fixed cameras .

Shows that my speedo is over reading very slightly . I'll give it a good blast on the motorway and see what speed readings i get .

Overall i'm impressed . Looks like £60 well spent

^ Same here mate. Got it installed properly now. Got it in the little cubby hole underneath the headlight and dash light adjustment controls. All wires hidden. Gone from Cig lighter, through/under ash tray, round the back of the dash and into the cubby hole from behind. Looks neat yet inconspicuous. Very impressed it still picks up 6-7 satallites down there and at full strength.

My only problem now is that there are no cameras near me
I never thought that'd be a problem before. Seriously I've got to drive 12 miles to test it out.

I'm not so sure about some of the mobile sites it's picking up though. It's now claiming the road I live on is a possible site, when in my entire life living here, I haven't seen a single speed check operation done. Over protective?

^ lol, you can turn the possible mobile warnings off if you wish. I think I accidently set my house as one before as I pressed the 'user' button, instead of 'menu' when I was on my drive.

Cant seem to get a signal other than directly under the clear rectangle under the window, but i cant leace it there as its too on show, and its right oveer the bloody air vents, so i'll melt it in the winter!
Tried that little coin area by your right knee, it worked whilst going down hills but not on flats or up hill lol. Must be getting reception through side window when goin on a certain slope lol

God knows what all the numbers are when it first starts up , lol .

It usually says something like 6042 , then 11.59 , then 12.00 , i'm guessing that the latter 2 are something to with the time , fcuk knows what 6042 is ? It doesn't say in the manual .

Do you get the same , any ideas ??
