Graphic tablets

Does anyone use a graphics tablet? Are they any good? I keep thinking of getting one but don't want to waste my money if they're rubbish.

Does anyone know of any second hands ones I could try out?

Mitch, thats what I'd like to find out! I use photoshop about 20% of my time and autocad the rest.

I have used one before on a mates computer, and just played about on paint and its very accurate looks the same as hand writting on the screen but not sure if it would be easy to use for autocad, spose would have to move your hand about even more and have it floating instead of on a arm rest.

i work for an architectural practice, i did some work experience for another practice down the road from my current one and there was a guy doing rendering etc for 3d modelling on AutoCAD, everyone else were using mice.

i use a mouse now but i'd like to see if the tablets are any good for CAD, i should imagine they would be ok but not sure about how you would left/right click etc??

Wacom's are the best, My Alias tutor uses one, hardly uses the mouse at all as he can do 99% of things with the pen. Very useful as you can sketch straight onto Alias then use your lines as a guide to model on.

Not seen one used in photoshop but i'm sure a lot of pros use them too, i'm gonna get one next year probably
