Graphics Card Help

Need to know whats a good graphics card (can be 2x sli if within budget)

Gonna be used on a linux box and to be honest I prefer Nvidia over ATI.. oh and its PCI-E


Budget up to ~£400 as its for a work system ! need opengl acceleration for 3d redering... I was thinking along the line of an 8800 ?

640Mb will prob only make a difference above 1600x1200 in games with all settings on high

Prob don't need the GTX or Ultra, I'd go for the 640Mb

You may get away with it. My dual 7900GTX's under full load never drain more than 300w, according to the LEDs from the PSU. I know the 8800 series of cards are more demanding, but it shouldn't be too much.

My PSU is rated at 750w - a bit overkill for what I need it for!

Well I just had a power outage at home with one of my work systems.. Took it back in today and it appears the following is dead or damaged !

1 x 120 GB HDD
1 x 80 GB HDD
1 x 200 GB HDD
1 x 1TB (ext) HDD

All with unretrievable data on it..

Motherboard is also displaying signs of faults.. its beeps like f**k when you switch the system on lol.. still need to test the ram etc.. On the bright side my boss said to write an order for the new parts... quad core here we go kinda kicking myself though as I normally have a UPS and surge protector hooked up to them all.. just didnt bother with the at home one

The graphics card I will decide depending on which mobo I get..
