A few for me (all PC)D.
- Warcraft III - superb graphics and sound (for the time) but the gameplay sucked. Nothing more complex than mass churn-out of units and rush the opposition. Yawn. Totally and utterly outclassed by Command & Conquer Generals. Yep, even with C&CG's Tank Rush tactics..
- Counter-Strike (both 1.6 and Source). There, I've said it. Let the flaming commence! Great underlying appeal marred by stupid, stupid hit detection. Why the feck after all these years is the pistol still one of the most accurate weapons? Spot a enemy 300 yards away - single shot, bam, HEADSHOT!
- Neverwinter Nights. Massive potential and I pumped hours into the single player mode initially. Just got bored with it after a while.
- GTR - even The Stig would have trouble handling any of those cars with consistent lap times. Zero margin for error just made the game tiresome. Much improved with the later GTL and completely forgiven with GTR2 - still the benchmark of any racing game. Period.
thats the funniest thing ive ever read about WC3, youve clearly not played it online ever. Blizzard single player mode for WC3 is all roleplay, its an awesome story and its fun to work through but the real meat and potatoes of the game comes out when you play online
Clearly I haven't played it online - you're right. But if the previous WC's and StarCraft in a LAN count, then my opinion ain't going to change.
