Grinding Noise On Braking

Car  RENAULT CLIO
Got a 2001 Clio. During the past year a grinding noise has developed when braking. It only needs the very gentlest touch of the brakes and is coming from the front. Had discs and pads replaced on both front wheels but it didn't cure the problem. Has anyone had a similar experience and/or can suggest possible causes and solutions.

Cant remeber if there's a backing plate behind the discs on these but if there is try bending it away form the disc.. Had a similar problem on a BMW at work and that's all it needed. Or take the brakes apart and check there isn't anything stuck in the caliper like a stone or something.

Could also be the make of pads you have fitted.. Apec ones are a b*****d for squealing

Thanks I'll check out your suggestions. It's not a squealing noise its more of a grinding noise. Will post the results of the checks.
