Gripper diff oil

  172 cup track toy
Got a gripper fitted in my 172 cup, gunna give it a box oil change, what's everybody using for LSD diffs????

  Cup In bits
Basically Gripper is a plate diff with frictional plates (servicable) that lock the two shafts together under load and Quaife is a mechanical (no servicing required) diff that sends power to the wheel with the most traction. An open diff is what that comes in the standard car where it will spin up whichever wheel with the least grip. That oil won't be suitable for your Quaife diff.

You can use the Morris oil but it's about £90-00 for 3 litres from what I was told, I'm using the castrol B373 as well and changing every 6 months, I've done about 1000 rd miles and the rest at events and the Diff and box have been fine I'll be dropping the oil this month to see what swarf is in there, just to say this oil is not for rd use and will have a short life span.

Is it? Morris is round the corner from me, i thought they were cheap!

Looks like you correct, should have gone and had a look on their site for myself possibly chinese wispers, they do a fully Synthetic XFS 80W/140 for £18-82 incl VAT for 1 litre so you'd need 4 as the box takes just over 3 litres + top up, the mineral based stuff is less, may give them a call and see what's available.
