grrrr! fecking handbrake...

My stupid handbrake is driving me nuts.

It was fine when new but it soon stops working properly, to the point that it seems like you have to have the handle pointing at the roof and it's stlll not gripping...

Is there an easy way to adjust it? I know the rear calipers on valvers are notoriously crap anyway, so I don't know if I just need to adjust the handbrake cable or the caliper end of things themselves.

Any ideas anyone?

ta muchly :)

Jack it up and see if both wheels are holding, if not check that oen of the cables hasn't snapped.

If they are both intact the mechanisms ont eh rear calipers for hte handbrakes are known for going, i can supply a working caliper if required.

To adjust it remove the the centre section heatshield and you will see where the cables go in, with 2 nuts on, rule it handbrake off and tensions it so tehre is very lsihgt tensiion in the cables

Silly question maybe but does the same apply to non-valvers (RTs etc)

As mine is starting to look like a sex toy!

The adjustment bit is the same, how ever where it goes to the drums is different, IIRC they dont' have the problems with mechanisms failing, differnnt cables too, shorter IIRC
