GSD3's or T1-R's

  R14 CUP
I ain't sure which to go for. I ideally want PE2's but i can't afford them at the moment.

I had the Toyo's on my last car - and i thought they was good, would just like some other opinions. I hear very good things about GSD3's

Or is actually worth spending that bit extra for the PE2's?

  Jagggg...missing the 182!
thats one phrase you should never say IMO - cant afford the tyre you want.

Get the PE2's, worth the money IMO, end of day why bother having a cup if your to scrimp on rubber is what i say

For reference - mate has a 172 cup on T1-Rs and it is less grippy (whether this is 195s compared to 205s i dont know)

As for eagle f1s, cant speak experience on a clio, bit on other cars, closest being a 205, great tyre dry weather, wet not so great and poor wear on the outside.

I've had the GSD3 all round when I first bought my 172, very good in the dry, lacked a bit in the wet for my liking, then I put two PE2s on the front, grip difference in dry was better and a big improvement in the wet, although these were 205/45/16 so a little wider. They're the only 2 higher performance tyres I've ever used so can't compare to others. The F1s seem very good value but I only got 6000 miles out of my front, first 8 months I had the car, so it got driven hard. Personally, I'm going for PE2s to replace my GSD3s again.

  MX-5 Sport
I had GSD3's on my Mondeo - they were exceptional. I had them on my first MX-5 - and they were awful (tread pattern didn't work with the car for some reason). I then changed to T1-Rs, and have these on my current MX-5 - they're just brilliant. Even in the recent snow they haven't been too bad!

However, on my 182 I had Hankook V12 Evo's, and they were ace!

Ive not tried gsd3's.

Have had a few sets of both pe2's and t1r's though, and the pe2's s**t on the toyos from a great height in every area but price.

And then the toyo's are soft and seem to wear faster, so...

Worth the extra of those two choices imo.

iv got F1 gsd 3's on my 182 now. havnt usead any other tyres yet so cant compare!

The F1's are amazing in the dry but i find they dont like the wet so much. especially standing water. mabye this is just a trait of the car but i find i treat carefully in the damp now!

at the end of the day, its the rubber thats keeping all 3 or 4 of your tyres in contact with the road, not the hedge....

T1-R's on the clio for me arn't as good as the GSD-3's but they are bloddy good for the money!!

really its down to driver preference and the car, i swear by gsd-3's but my mate hates them.
