Over there it's mostly advertised as a Subaru BRZ, whereas over here Toyota does all the advertising as a GT86.

Incorrect, over there it is a toyota FRS, they use BRZ because thats standard all over world.

EDIT: Beaten lol. Scion FRS/Toyota GT86/Subaru BRZ. Different companies focus on different countries, although apart from the Scion you can buy them anywhere.

Also it's because the deal that Suburu and Toyota have, Toyota build the Suburu BRZ in their factory and let Suburu sell it as their own.. Catch is Suburu is only allowed to sell one every time Toyota well 10. And scion is just a rebrand of Toyota in certain countries isn't it?
