gtt or 16v torsion bar on my rt

The open rear end does indeed have 4 torsion bars but the rear 2 are just anti-roll bars basically.

I dunno if the rears are uprated, certianly doesnt feel like it. They have colour codes on them.

Got to ren and ask.

i think they are diff diameters, i dont have the figures, but there is a torsion bar available off another clio (NOT 16v and im pretty sure not a williams eitehr) that is a decent amount thicker. But i have not been able to find out yet.

the bars are the same dias BEn. Well all the ones I have seen are, open enclosed whatever they are the same dia.

Or to be more specific the splined ends are, the rest of its covered in a rubber sleeve.

Bloody sick of torsions bars lowering another one on thursday - lucky me.

yay!

ill see if i can get that info sheet to you on the torsion bars, i know i have it somewhere!

But it doesnt specify which car it comes off.

Christ, all otehr french cars you can buy them off the shelf......bloody rens.

I can be really sad and try to rememnber lenghts of them etc etc but I wont.

Ok heres obscure fact number one, the inner end has 24 splines whilst the outer has 25.

If you find that info sheet I wouldnae mind a gander.

ill try dig it up.............

problem is, its somewhere in this pile of manuals each one beign about 1000 pages each!

Righto, here we go :(

well heres the prob. The subframe is on. But its not straight. Unlike mondeos etc there are no locating pin holes or anything. Reference points to get it straight and along those lines.

Anything will be gratefully receieved oh ye of diminutive stature.

cheers matey

Struggling with the A series valves at the mo! They aint cleaning up very well! They are eating through stanley blades!

STANLEY BLADES!

lol....that scot engineering again :p

jsut get a new set, they are cheap as chips!

or fit some oversize ones.

Aye I suppose I should.

Trying to get some valve seat cutters etc. Need to find a uk supplier for Neway. I had some but most are gone and th eother are missing the bits.

The prices for machine valve seats up here would buy a new engine.

Was gonna fit the cooper S valves which are nigh on a 1/2 inch bigger.

Stanley blades are the best thing I have found for removing crap with out doing damage. Unless you can suggest something better.

Oh, i thought you were using tehm to get rid of that ridge, lol......you just gettign carbon and crap off with them then?In most cases i dont re-use valves unless they are perfect, but if they are, chemically cleaned.

valve seat cutters are damn expensive and the hand powered ones are w**k as a wanky thing, and the diff angled cutters cost a fortune too.

lol actually done that on the duff exhaust valve, cut it out then with the file and then a bit of sandpaper the valve was as good as new actually! lol

I am aware of the price of cutters matey, had a set, they cost me about 3 sierras (1.6 and 2 2litres lol).

I have used the Neway hand cutters and mate they are excellent. I woudl proudly put my name on them.

http://www.newayts.com.au/default.htmhttp://www.newayts.com.au/default.htm thats the austrailian web page the best one as a matter of fact. Gears lovely mate.

Chemical cleaning is never all its cracked up to be. Even with blocks and heads, you still need to clean them by hand when they come back.

I only replace valves if they are knackered discoloured (the base metal) or the guides are worn. Unless its someone elses head and they want new valves to save a bit.

Even with new valves you need to clean them up, you need to polish em or you get the veiny thing on the back of the valves.

ill stay!

ill stick to the serdi powered cutter (i dont own it, no chance in hell! lol)

Cheamical clean and we have a soft shot blast cabinet to remove crud/corrosion and carbon without pitting and damaging the surfaces, heads not as important to be careful. But jeeze does the shot cost!

Its safe to say we are quite jewish with application and reuse lol.

New valves are back cut first.

I knew a guy with a serdi thing, but I aint got a grand or 2 lyign about. The bearings went on it and he contiue using it, So a pinto head was on it cracked the spindle broke and he died (hole about the size of a fist on his chest about the size of a bucket on his back, Simon has some crackign stories abotu industrial accidents).

The blast cabinets are good I gave mine to simon as I dont have a compressor to use it. And yeah the shot aint cheap.

Any of the normal (i.e. non-wide arch) Clio models that were specd with ABS had the four-bar torsion beam system fitted as they could take rear discs, which the ABS system came with. Must have been a very expensive option!

Simon my mate with the megane cab

He owns and runs Capriotti Artisan, I was helping him the other week. We made tables, 14 altogether for a pub in glasgow. 2 grand they cost the pub. They will last and we made then from planks. No Ikea flat pack sh*t.

Its all big machines he runs and some are quite old and he knows their tricks. But if some muppet came in and tired they would end up losing a limb or gain a large hole somewhere.
