guide on how to remove acoustic valve???

Hi all,

i'm pretty new to the forum.

i've just been reading a few posts on the acoustic valve. i've used the search function but there is nothing that shows exactly how to do it.

can someone do a bit of a guide for me an maybe a few piccies?

is this worth doing and will it have a detrimental effect on teh car in any way?

So going by that guide the best thing to do is to simply remove the pipe from the side of the airbox and feed your own cold air feed down to the grill or wherever. Gonny try this when my ITG comes.

Yeah, but if you're gonna bypass the acoustic valve you need to make sure you have blocked off the thin black air tube which runs from the air intake on the engine itself to the acoustic valve. Graham 172 has a pic of this which helped me figure it out...Definately a mod worth doing!! I've just installed an ITG filter and some noticeable gains to be had alongside this mod IMO.
Graham in your email you said "make sure it is secured properly otherwise it will lean out the fuel mixture". were you refering to the cold air feed pipe running to the airbox?

its pretty self explanatory.. just the wheel off and pull off the arch liner and ull be able to work it out easy

Do you mean when the valve is removed or when you just put a different CAF in?

I mean when the valve is removed. But from what I understand you will most likely have to remove or disconnect the Accoustic Valve to put in your own CAF.

The guide says:
"Accoustic valve will be connected to a thin black tube, remove as much of the connecting bits, leaving just the tube.
This must be blocked off (or you will idle above 1000rpm) with a screw / bung similar"

The thin black tube being referred to here is the one that connects to the Accoustic valve to the air input on the engine itself. As long as you block that off as the instructions say and disconnect the electrical plug on the Accoustic Valve assembly, you'll be good to put your own CAF in.
