Yeah didn't even realise this was today, only happened to be around M20 way, when saw loads of people on the bridges. Pulled up and had a butchers then saw loads of them. Was quality, every one beeping the horns. Saw a black 182 beep as well lol.

  BMW F31
i gotta admit i took pics of EVERY car and didnt see a zonda, must've diverted off the m20!

Matt were you the guy in the red trophy with the v6 and the vx220 in maidstone services/birdge just down from there?

  BMW M4; S1000 RR
Edit i stand corrected your right there is a pic of the zonda on the gumball site.

Mate, if you got to know the community "in the know", you'd realise there's a little difference between what's on Gumball's site and what's in the real world.

Max was getting his little mr men to spread the word that there were something like 7 Veyrons doing it last year.

I don't actually think he owns a car either, they're all borrowed off people, usually entrants in return for a (slightly) reduced entry fee or special treatment.

haha fair enough, the list of cars on the gumball forum is b****cks anyway cos the list doesnt contain the F40 or the Enzo i saw lol!

Pics from yesterday...

First one was a display car but second had UK plates and went off with all the other cars in the rally. Loving the yellow Carrera GT on Florida plates as well, stunning.

Last year was crazy, this year is dangerous in places.

Prices are still rediculous though. £40k last year, £28k this year.... So you save £12k but don't get to go round the world..

lol..

Tis a bit of a joke, many tell each other they get discounts (some even speculate that the likes of Tony Hawk do it for free..) meanwhile the staff swear blind that no one gets discounts.

Even offered to show me the invoices once..

My interest in Gumball is trailing off now. They've made it un-accessable for most of the regulars, imagine what kind of time around Europe you could have for £30k if you got some friends together that were willing to spend that amount too.

Followed it for years, family and friends have done it for the past few years.

I was also meant to be building a fan website for Gumball HQ this year before the rally. Through lots of ideas down, but in true Gumball fashion they're more interested in movie premiers than getting their fans some gubbins.

I had an "in my dreams" moment and decided how to spend £40k (the cost of driver+passenger on the Gumball) on a road trip for two people...

Saturday 28th July 2007...First Class BA UK to Orlando

Pick up a Hertz Shelby GT-H at Orlando Airport, 4 weeks rental with return to Las Vegas.

Saturday August 25th 2007...First Class Virgin Las Vegas to UK

BA First Class to Orlando: £9000
4 week Car Rental: £2200
Virgin Atlantic First Class to UK: £7000

So I'm still left with over £20k for a months worth of hotels and enjoyment driving around America. That's over £350 per person per day, whilst driving around in a 325bhp car after flying first class, pretty comfortable living!

Don't know where Gumball was staying in London last night, but Carbon Black was in the ...... Forget the name, but a room was £800 a night. That rally is only £12k whilst invite only.

  Turbos.
I inadvertedly got caught up in this in the VX220!

I joined the A20 and got a very dodgy look from a couple an office in a police car but didn't think any of it! Then i passed the service and there were loads of people waving, i thought it was some sort of gypo camp move at first!

Then on every bridge there were people watching.... i eventually got overtaken by an M6 and Range Rover in identical livery. I think i was winning up until that point ;)

I couldn't believe the amount of police cars around, surely that must limit the fun?

yeah that was us, loads of other mates in cliosports and an evo 9 too. We went straight from the cliosport meet to watch the gumball.

we were in the services and tried walking to a bridge to watch but got told another way by the police so drove there and watched.

were you on the bridge or just in the services?

i watched all the cars go, definately didn't see any zonda go past, didn't see the yellow carrera gt either.

Alex Roy was 15 minutes ahead of everyone else lol.

the best pack was with the veyron, enzo, f40, 360cs and others in it.

  BMW F31
yeah we were in the services waiting then saw a porsche leave so followed him as he had a camera and just as we got onto the bridge we saw the other bridge and noticed everyone so drove there. you guys turned up just after us and you were standing about 1 car away from us on the bridge but as i have never met any of you didn't want to just stroll over lol, plus had the gf's pug 306 and not my clio :(

yeah the enzo and f40 pack was awesome! amazing noise lol!

here is the link to the photo's i took, if any of you guys want your plates taken out then let me know, just forgot to do it before i uploaded.

There's no point doing it in England really, police always get wind of it before hand and put HEAVY presence on it, they are told to give zero tolerance. I get away with 80-85 just sat with the traffic going past cops, but they have been known to pull Gumballers for overtaking a cop sat at 70.... Then there's the ones doing 130mph getting pulled, but they're just the crazy ones out for chases.

France is just as bad, there were some talks that I can't disclose but will just say it would've been VERY interesting if Gumball pulled it off, but it didn't happen and France remains a place not to go if you want to drive at a consistent high speed.

Anyways, got to get back to work.. Only came home for lunch !!
