Gutted..Well Sort Of!

Hi guys

I ordered my Black/Gold 182 on the 1st of June and ive just got a phone call telling me they have a delivery date...
however the date is the 23td of July and i go on holiday this Friday for 2 weeks...Gutted ( sort of!)

Another thing, the bird on the phone asked me when i wanted it then and i said as soon as i get back BUT then she throws a spanner in the works by saying, would you like to wait for when the new Reg comes out!!!

What would you do as im in two minds (gotta ring her back asap)

may as well wait the extra few days and get the new reg mate, might be worth a few hunfred more when you come to sell it

New reg. isnt until Sept is it? So more than a few days. Simple really - cancel holiday, register car, go on driving holiday!

Im not in a massive hurry to get it ( even tho i havent a car at the moment) but then again....

Also its in the dealers interest to get you to wait.

Coz they then get an extra "new registration" for 54plates.

I dont think it will make much difference to resale value tbh, its a 2004 182 built in July, regardless of when it was regd.

I wouldnt bother, since the new style plates people ask you "What year is it?" not "What reg is it?". If you check the trades youll see 2004 Renault Clio where you used to Y Reg or whatever the letter was.

I got mine 3 weeks before reg day and its a 53 but Ive only ever been asked the year. Same when I got rid of 02.

Of course Ive got a private reg so I am even less fussy...

Im planning to get a private reg as well dangermouse

Just cant seem to find a decent one for around £250.

Still not made my mind up! im not the most decisive of people, ill ask my G/f!

The dealer asked me if I wanted to wait until the 54reg and I replied Are you mad? I want to be in the car yesterday! Anyway summers over and autumns here if you wait until September - thats approximately 1000 pose points youd be giving up Leo182. And it is the very same car after all - and you could go on another holiday in the 182 too - while its still summer!

Personally I think the "0X" plates look better than the "5X" plates but thats just my personal taste. Also I am none to chuffed about picking up a new car when the rainy season is starting.

Just spoke to my G/f and she wants me to wait for the new reg!

She didnt give a proper reason apart from saying you buy a car with the latest reg or something like that, WTF!

Typical she would say that as i was thinking the opposite!!

Just get it now and enjoy it for what it is! Like a reg plate is gonna make it drive differently.

Leo182 - you have the answer! G/f says wait for new reg on the basis of it making the car newer. This appears logical but as it is the same car obviously incorrect. Register car now - 54 plate will be bad luck anyway, G/f will dump you next March for new guy with 05 Clio and eventually marry another guy with a new Clio 192 on a 56 plate. Persuade her now that 04 is the correct choice before its too late!!!!

CocoPops i get what your saying and i agree tbo BUT! as im off on my hols with the other half and on a promise! i dont want to upset her (she said when i spoke to her before btw, you never listen to me lol!!)

Midnight pickup sounds nice, but it doesnt happen these days does it.

And yes - I know my wife has my less than one wek old 182 while I am in her Ford Focus.... That xxx card is the top trump!

Bump! i didnt want to but i have a problem now!

Ive just had another phone call saying that i cant wait untill the 1st of Sept now

Looks like ill have to get my 182 on the 1st of August now ( 1st day back from my hols)

Apparently the woman on the phone said shes had a problem ( dont know who with, Reno perhaps) with changing the agreement, which was delivery date 23rd July and whoever she had this agreement with they wont change the agreement!

Its all a bit vague because ive gone through a broker to order my 182.

Suppose it means i get a 182 earlier all be it a 04 plate but as said before it doesnt really make much difference ( but it does to my Mrs!)

p.s does Robinsons in/near Birmingham mean anything to anyone??

Just another small point, i cant beleive they couldnt sell it to someone else, there must be loads of people after a Black/Gold 182 with cup pack!
