i have been there 5 years and not getting into much detail, they have finished me, when i say finished.....they have made me redundant but without a final leaving date (they are going to let me know !!!!).

anyway, they are bringing someone else in to do my job.

i thought the postion is made redundant not the person !

They cant by law make a person redundant and then replace them with someone else.

They either sack you or they make the post redundent and replace you with no one.

They can however rename the job and change the formal responsibilities/role slightly and have someone doing the same job, unfortunately there are ways to get round these things.

This works for sure. My dad works for a very large company who I wont name. They were getting rid of a lot of the older members of staff. They thought my old man was ready to collect his pension but was in fact a year too young, so they had to find another way to get him out. He got wind of this and went to see the Docs. He was off for over a month with "stress". This reflected badly on the company, and during the time he was off he was offered a new role within the company. Hes enjoying his job again and will most likely work until he choses to leave and draw his pension.

He did that based on the advice of my Uncle who was a Manager for Unipart. Hed had similar things happen over the years so had some good ideas.

I know first hand what its like to be made redundant as it happened to me in January 2003. Luckily I got redundancy which paid for the 172 at the time.

Good luck mate and dont let them get away with it.
