Had a little go in a 197..

Can really write a fair review on what I thought, because I literally drove it for about 5-10 minutes, around a residential area with traffic!

The interior looks much better imo, more up to date, and I loved the seats too. I wasn't overly impessed with the drive, but like I said, it wouldn't be fair to comment, I didnt get over 40!! The steering is lighter, which I thought I would prefer, but I think the heavier steering makes it feel a bit more confident. The brakes didn't feel as sharp either. It also felt very big, as I'm tiny, I felt like I was driving a much bigger car than a clio! I think I would like to drive it around for a day, so I could drive it properly, as obviously I could tell how fast it was! I did like it, but I don't think I'd trade my 182 for one just yet. Would like to see what the handlings like though, all the saleman kept saying how much better it was than mine!

Deb, I also felt it was huge as I'm tiny too - what height are you?? As at 5ft myself with the seat up as far as it would go I felt I had limited vision over the dash which seemed far too high?

I'm 5ft3, and couldn't really see properly over the dash with the seat on highest either! It seemed very chunky round the sides too, I wouldn't feel confident driving in tight spaces, as I couldn't see where the road was!!

Yep it's crap, I doubt I would buy one as I didn't feel I'd be very safe driving it with limited vision, top of the steering wheel seemed to be level with my eyes :S Small cars should be kept small :dapprove:

Yep, I totally agree, if was was to be paying that money I'd rather have the Megane 225, at least I can still see out of that! And it's supposed to be the bigger car :S

You should have asked the salesman if he has actually driven a 182 and a 197.

It's about the only thing he could go on by telling me the suspention was better, as I couldn't test it out for myself. Everything else he was saying wasn't true, he was telling me loads of 'new' things the 197 had which the 182 apparently didn't have (it did) and how much faster it is, top speed etc, probably thinking I was just a dumb girl who had no idea what I was driving!

Ditto, 182 is perfect for me so when it's time to change that looks like I will be changing manufacturers too...

Also the thing is all the tall people could change to lower bucket seats, not much us short people can do :dapprove:

I don't like em had a test drive today. They look boring, boring to drive and they feel massive which isn't what I want in a hot hatch.

Totally agree, that's the impression I got too, but as I wasn't out for long I didn't really want to say that, I'd probably get lots of abuse and be told to drive it properly first! But yeah, it seemed quite boring.
