The bloody nipple snapped! Managed to glue it back together and it seems to be holding, but im sourcing a replacement.

Bloody give up some days!

Re: Had a knigtmare today!

ouch, map sensor. easy to do
Basically ive spent all day glueing it, trying to put it back in, but with the glue its made the nipple slightly thicker, so it wont go into the hole. So ive had to elaborate.

Used a piece of vac pipe just bigger than the hole, forced that in. Then put the MAP sensor in the other end of the vac pip. Only very short lenght of pipe, around 2cm. But it sits ok, zip tied in place so its doesnt move until the new one arrives.

Re: Had a knigtmare today!

Engine management light came on this monring :(

Sensor is still getting air, just not as much as ive had to use a slightly smaller hose to re attach as a bodge job. Will this be why?

Re: Had a knigtmare today!

Well that was always going to happen if you were doing it on horse back with metal gloves on?

I wonder if its ok due to the car driving normal, the revs are a little un-easy at idle, but only slightly more than normal really. And it still pulls all the way to the limiter and the "5k kick" is there. Just hope it last until the new one arrives :)

Will the engine managment light still be on even when i fix the problem?

thanks

It depends, it may go off. Other wise you will just have to get the fault code reset at you local auto electricians. No big deal.

Yeh, i imagine its because i have a smaller pipe running to the sensor, so its not getting enough air, all i could do as a quick fix really. New one being sent tommorow so hopefully be here tuesday :):)

New sensor fitted :) All back to normal. Engine managment light still on though, grrrrr.

Also a random low ish pitched noise, sounds like a vibration has started aswell. Only when on run down though?

Gona check ive tightened everything up in the bay 1st.

a few clean starts will make the light go out :) you can still go birchdown for them to clear the codes but IMO you should be ok now :)
