Halfrauds, now on my thumbs down list

i bought an alpine touch bar headunit (9855r), ipod adaptor, infinity speakers all round and a sony xplod amp from halfrauds. all fitted for free (due to me bartering with them) in october 2005;

headunit has never worked (resetting, loose, etc) and has just been replaced for the 3rd time after having a non functional "temporary" sony headunit for four months (old headunit was taken out in october 06 and a series of lost receipts and no return calls on their part means i was without music for 4 months).

the amp has been replaced four times, and has just been repaced with a different model, mainly due to them fitting it so abruptly and harshly that the contacts for the wires were shoved into the amp, breaking it.

the speakers and wires constantly cut out on the drivers side, due to a constant supply of dodgey rca leads and then the amp again.

due to them rushing the installation some of my cars wires were either cut or pulled out of their sockets so a nice trip to renault outside of warranty and get charged 47.95 to just look at the car, let alone replace/solve the problem. RAID and hazard lights had been pulled out of sockets, along with problem with the revometer and oil temp guage. which i can fix but i thought what the hell, lets charge halfords.

finally got a new headunit and was sent to the closest halfords to my home address (only in leeds for uni and told them where to stick it when they told me i had to travel back to leeds to get it fitted again). . . . no phone call so came back to leeds after xmas and eventually bit the bullet; called customer services and was told that it had been there for a week and hadnt anyone told me?? eventually sent back up to leeds.

14 months of problems, one easy solution; full money back (plus compensation for car trouble and fuel costs) and same setup fitted by UniCar down the road from me.

not had one single problem, i know its only been a week, but that is the longest i have had music for in 14months.

anyone wanting to have a new stereo fitted, say fcuk off to halfrauds.

rant over, can this be made into a guide lol??

how come the title has been changed and how come my other post on the other thread has been deleted asking for a mod to delete the double thread post??

i dont know the 1st thing about fitting stuff like this, you would have thought that a company that supplies it would know how to, cant really see it being my fault.

sorry crazy clio but im seriously p1ssed off mate

Nope used to work on a cycle department, one day boss comes to me gives me a box some keys and tells me to fit it.

Halfords have absolutely NO training sceme, NO rewards for good employees and NO respect for people who are skilled/know what the f**k they are doing.

i work there on part time basis for uni money, cant all have a massive loan!!its true theres no training, but its a piece of piss to fit a stereo, shoulda got ya money back in the first 30days!! the fitting does sound like a s**t service, we did a clio the other day, took 30 mins for amp,hu and sub-easy!

Tis easy but they sould have official training, they are required by law to do it before you touch ANY electronic device.

Sorry about the rant btw they jus messed me about ALOT and owe me alot of money that i will never see.

owe you alot of money? yeah they are s**t with wages, massively if thats what you mean. the people in charge 'expect' you to 'know' how to fit everything with no training, i jumped in a car all the wires had been cut and was TOLD to fit new isos and said 'fook that, thats not my job when the hell was i trained for this'

walked off, they can sort out the problems!

Yep about 2 grand in unpaid wages plus in back pay for the pay increse the new manager refused.

forced me out of the company. has taken me the last few months to get over the self esteem he destroyed.

lol. just fealt so worthless when i was there. Could work on any department new the system inside out could do all the admin tasks and was literally told i was crap and i would be leaving one way or another.

Anyway sorry for the thread hijack.

Halfrauds are shite discuss..... lol

Halfrauds in Leeds employ the largest group of incompetent, lay about wasters I have ever come across. They would not know customer service if it bit them on the arse and the staff know absolutely nothing.

My last trip there around 2 years ago was a hateful affair. I went in with the intention of buying an aerosol for a 106 in quite a common green but my local motor factors had run out. I ran through their pre-mixed section and couldn't see the colour so went up to the parts desk to see about a paint mixing service. I waited for 15 minutes as staff walked past and looked at me from the checkouts but no one asked if I was being served. I went back to the checkouts to ask where the staff member was and I was told 'they are up there somewhere'. Back I went to hear lots of commotion coming from the bike build area. I went around a partion wall to see the two staff members who should have been manning the parts desk having some sort of duel with foam tubing, I went mental.

When the time came for one of them to don their work hat, I was told that the colour code I had given them did not exist. I asked the individual to check the vin plate for the colour which he did and confirmed it was correct. He then popped off to trawl through colour charts and find the code manually. He came back with a brown chip, 'this is the best we've got mate'. Goodbye Halfrauds.

If the ground opens up tomorrow and sucks that hell hole in, I could not be happier. They will never see a penny of mine again.

Rant over.

Guys to be honest fit it your self.

I go to halfords for parts occasionally, and love to go to the audio section to laugh at the prices and what they are trying to sell.

All i can say is my system is SOUND!

i have a mate who knows about this kinda stuff now but hes in london so i cant just bob down there really. and if i had the time then i would know about it and be able to learn if i wanted to . . . . . but im in my third year at uni doing genetics, i also work, so im f***d if im gonna learn to do their job for them!

rant over, for the mo lol

haha love these Halfords threads!

yep they provide NO training at all, you really don't want a part time rookie working on your car. They are tossers to the staff as well, no rewards, minimum wage and they try and screw you at every turn, even after working there part time for 6yrs... I got paid 60hrs too little over xmas, 60hrs for god sake!!

But the company as a whole is doing really well. That p*ss's me off.

But, the bigger of the two Leeds stores is consistantly the best performing one in the area because rumour has it they have, or at least did have, a really knowledgable set of lads there... maybe they've all left, or maybe you went to the smaller one

kirkstall road, lad named stuart (ginger) fitted it, nice guy, no mess, worked fine for a while, but then all hell broke lose.

then again, its hardly his fault that all the stuff that he had fitted, quite well actually, went down the sh1tter.

rest of them couldnt care less about my car.
