Handbrake lever goes snap...

Just pulled up now and applied the handbrake and.... snap. Up came the lever with a bit of tension applied to the rear wheels.

From the picture, it's not that easy to see where the the linkage has snapped. Is it easy enough to replace the whole ratchet and lever assembly? Or a proper ballache? Quite surprised how 'rusty' it is down there too!

I've never removed one, but pretty sure it's as simple as remove that trim, and you have some bolts staring you in the face.

Hmmm. Not sure what's going on here. It still works, but is definitely more slack on the lever. Could one side at the rear have disconnected or snapped, even?

Might take it in to the garage. I'm concerned that it might stay on!

Sounds like handbrake cable has snapped, pretty common I think?
