Hankook V12 EVO or Hankook RS2 ?

  Not a 320d
Time for new tyres. From the two - which would you rarther have. Purely a road tyre to replace my 195/50/16 Pilot prims.

These or these;

Not to keen on the idea of getting £400's worth of rubber (PE2's etc) as ive trashed a set of Pilot Primacys in 13,000 miles. So these might do. Soon as the weather clears up im getting a new set. Fred@BTM is keen on the V12's and ive heard good things about the RS2's.

Thanks.

Yeah, ive not heard anything bad about either tyres, the RS2's struggle to clear standing water, and not being...amazing in the wet, and perhaps not being the longest lasting tyre available to buy, but a great all round road and track tyre.

Like i said though, Fred is super keen on the V12. Ill wait and see what he says, if he says. Also, i think v12's would be better in snowy conditions :)

Thanks for input. Need to get some ordered asap as mine are bordering illegal.

Well theyre not for snow use :), once it all clears its getting new tyres and a full setup.

Duck - What is the road noise like, grip, tyre sway etc?

Thanks.

Road noise I would say is no diferent to the Toyo T1Rs that were on before these. Grip is good, and progressive, which I like.

I find my V12 bouncy on the rear, hard to describe, they're good though.

I'm loving my RS2s. They were awsome at brands last weekend. Havn't had any problems in the wet with them. I don't tend to push in the wet though either.

i have v12s on the front and rate them very highly, i need two new ones for the rear now and cant seem to find them anywhere (204/45/16)

Yeah, I want the same size and cant find any. Trying to get them at trade price from a good mate, but I rekon V12's will be out of reach, and RS2's will have to suffice.

the demand for them are pretty high so will look into another tyre as im getting on the limit which aint good for this time of the year :S

After using both tyres i'd be going for RS-2's if there not too much more expensive. I had the V12 Evo in 205/45/16 for my turinis, good tyre but definately not as good gripwise in the dry in comparison to the RS-2's. In the wet the V12's were pretty good, but saying that the RS-2's were just as good also, did a very wet trackday the other week and I thought they performed well! Wear wise the RS-2's have done 11-12k miles this year and 5 trackdays, and still have at least 1.5mm ontop of the markers! Probably the best all round tyre for road/track.

Hate to stir things up but I was going to get v12 evos but now going to get kumho ku31's as I've heard good things about them and there in stock. I emailed camskill to see when they would get stock of v12's they replied saying 3-4 weeks that was 6 weeks ago.

I tried Camskill for the evo12's and the uniroyal Rainsports.. both out of stock, but contacted tyre land and they have loads of EVO V12's in. See if one is near you. Had them on a week now seem pretty good. and at £152 for the pair you cant really complain. Had the KU31's on my 106 gti not a bad tire but not too great in the wet.. It did eat them rather quickly....

Iv just put kumho ku31's on all round, 195/50/15. Cost me £135 + fitting.
Iv got to say they are good once you have scrubbed them in.
I chose these because I could not find any rs-2's any were and for that price they get my nod :approve:

When I gave my 197 some stick on Kumho KU31's they let go... so I don't rate them! Not a bad tyre and for day-to-day driving and once warmed up they're ok but for any enthusiastic driving I'd personally avoid them.

RS2's are being replaced with a new design next year. Hankook UK aren't sure when stocks will be in or even if they plan on stocking them in the UK at all. Still be available from online sellers who source from Europe though.

Ado had a set of Kumho's on his 197 don't think he rated them as they got replaced by Parada2's & they are crap also.

I'm gonna try Parada Spec 2's, however, the more I read about RS2's the more confused I am!

In the dry they are ok on road on track they overheat & start to fall to bits, been there done that.
RS2's excellent road tyre but also very good on track, not the stickiest but not very expensive also :D

RSR most prob. Why not try all of them. The Mk3 runs the same size?;)

I've used both options, a lot. RS2 are awesome, the only time they struggle is with standing water.
