Well my friend rang me yesterday time to tell me that he thinks there is a phase 1 172 up the scrapyard... which with me owning a 1.6 16v got me thinking!

Went down there and to my surprise there was!

got the front and rear seats for £100, and well im going to go back up today to see what else i can find!

Silver one! looked like it had been put into a field.. the front suspension arm and bumper were the only parts touched

Is it that much of an easy swap? i can get it fitted and what not, but im very impatient! and well i dont want my car away for weeks

Be quicker and easier just to buy the write off and fix it.

You think? il ask him how much they would want for the write off then i guess! i just love my clio being black so it would be more of a buy the write off take the parts i need sell the rest

You'd still just have a 1.6 clio though, albeit with a bigger engine and other scavenged parts.

It'd probably work out cheaper and certainly take a lot less time to just buy the 172, get it back on the road and respray it.

172's may not be worth much any more, but even a written off one will be worth more than a "project" 1.6

yeah true fact, i went up earlier he told me 1000 for the whole thing (i already have the seats)

Tbh it is quite tempting... im unsure as what to do! apparently the engine doesnt have many miles on either

As a guide, fubar'd ph1's normally go for around £4-600.

62k on the clock, cat c write off only problem with it is the front bumper and the front left suspension arm!
