Hard Drives + Instability Problems.

  Shed.
Right, mine is clicking a little bit now and vista was having problems with corrupt files (although after a proper format it does seem to be better - Im back on XP now)

What should i go for ? SSD or a WDVR ??

------------------------------

Also, i origionally put the computer freezing problem down to Vista, where the PC would freeze when installing something however now im back on XP its done it again.

Say i try to install Crysis - Itll Get so far through, and the the PC will freeze, both the mouse and key board will lose functionality / Switch off and ill need to restart - it doesnt blue screen or anything else, just freeze where it is like a screendump say. I will then restart, and itll be fine, ill be able to install the application without a problem.

Im running a 520 Watt PSU. My 6600 WAS running at 3.2GHz however ive put it back down to std now in an attempt to stop the freezing problem. I have a Tuinq 150 CPU Cooler and the highest ive seen the temperature at was 68 Oc on Prime 95, it idles at 32 Oc.

Anyone able to help me out here?

Thanks.

A friend of mine had one that did that and eventually it died within a 2 yr period. He contacted the manufacturer and they sent him a replacement drive with in days its was free on the condition that he returned the faulty drive within 2 weeks.

Maybe worth a try?

I think maxtor drives have got a 3 year warranty. I'd buy a Samsung Spinpoint as the replacement.

Tbh i want something faster. For the sake of a 160gig hard drive i dont think ill bother.

Would you get a solid state drive or 10,000rpm Wd ?
