Harness Bar

  Track 172 Cup
Would something like this be any good for mounting harnesses too would be fully welded on like in the picture. Mainly until I get a cage after I've done a couple of track days. My missus dad is a top class welder (highly qualified and experienced) so have no qualms with the quality of the work just wondering if it's okay and would be strong enough, What steel tubing would be best?

If not I may have to bite the bullet and do some overtime at work and buy myself a cage with harness bars.

Cheers

  dan's cast offs.
the welding looks like it's missed the bottom of the plate completely in that pic!!

just cage it, can be a pain in the arse if you weld a bar in then have to chop it out if it's in the way of the cage. as you know a welder fabricage do some good weld in cages, well worth a phone call.

Just don't have the £600+ that a cage costs at the moment. I know a member on here is selling a safety devices one but @ £550 then I would have to buy a fixing kit which is another £75. Was hoping this would be a easy fix for now and also double up as a rear strut brace

personally i would rather stick with them mounted to the rear iso mount points and i hate low mounted harnesses, probably just psychological but wouldn't feel comfortable with them on just a bar?

rear strut brace is waste of money unless you go full coilovers, even then doesn't do much.

A proper welded in harness bar is about 100x better than just using the iso mounts....

To the OP, Get some proper cage tubing, Spreader plates and jobs a good un.
