Hartge Cooper S vs Others 1/4 mile

Did you see the state of the track?? You try getting 215bhp down through the front wheels on a wet strip. The 0-100 time is low 15s according to my stop watch which aint bad. You can here and see that it is stuggling to get the power down until it hits about 50 mph. Once wheel spin is eliminated then it flies to the tonne. I reckon mid range on a country road that not much will touch it. Also try timing it from 30-70. I get about 5 seconds flat and that is still with the wheels spinning like a b**ch in first.

I hope that I am not dissapointed when I get mine back in 2 weeks time. I will be happy to meet up and let Rhys/Craggy etc to come for a spin and get there opinion.

A cup can hit a Tonne in under 15?? Well Phuck me!!! There must be something renault are not telling us. An 89kg weight saving shaving off over 3 seconds to the tonne?? That is very impressive if it is true.

he means the 1/4 duh?

i timed that 0-100 at 16

whats the point having all that power if it wheel spins it away

the 30-70 is quick but if you view my vid theres nowt in it.

"Whats the point having all that power if the wheels spin it away"

I dont tend to race from standing very often but when I do yes it could be a problem if I dont get the launch correct. However I dont think spining wheels will be a problem when booting it in 3rd gear at 50 miles per hour along a nice b road. And also I would hope that when I am cruising at 75 on the M/Way and some tw*t comes up behind to lick the dirt of my bumper for me that a drop from 6th to 4th should see him dissapear.

true but look at my 30-70 vid i dont have 240bhp and i cant see any difference, was that time something to do with that crappy traction control on the mini?

The cup will hit 100 in about 16 maybe slightly less, the quarter mile in about 14! Depends as always on conditions, temperature, fuel load, tyres, launch, wheteher u strip out your rear seats, condition of the track - all things being perfect, anything is possible..........

Where do you 240 bhp from mate?? It is 210. What is your 30-70 time?? Hartge quote 4.6 30-70. On the video clip above I time it at around 5 seconds in the wet with wheel spin as he doesnt change to second until after 40.

Sounds like you have a rapid 172.

The official quarter mile time for the cup is 14.8 - correct? therefore like I said 14 secs is not unfeasible - read before you sl*g others other DUDE.

That 0-100 time was with just the hartge conversion. Since then Mick has had other modifications to the exhaust and other parts

so 210bhp is standard conversion but he now has over 240bhp

so you can knock .8secs off nearly a second off putting you on par with these lot

  S2000

Cupsize, not knocking you mate, but if you were a regular 1/4 miler, you would know the extra power required for a 14s 1/4 mile, the Cup is no where near that time, still bleeding quick at 14.8 though!

You are doing your 30-70 but using 1 st gear? to go from 30-40 ish? No wonder its 5 secs. I thought when you did a 30-70 it was in 2nd and 3rd thats what the mags do.

Every thread at the minute seems to end up ? vs Cup!!

I have yet still to see one on the road!!!! Seen 3 Focus RSs but not one cup yet. Looking forward to Saturday though as there should be a few at the RR day.

It is only using 1st gear as it is taken from a 0-100 run and the Cooper S has stupidly long gearing. About 42 in 1st and 72 in second. A mistake on BMWs behalf in my opinion. Why do you need to have anymore than 62 in second?

I would say a cup would beat an S too. A 210 brake Cooper S though and I know what Id put my money on. But that is not really comparing apples with apples as there is a 200+ bhp upgrade out for the Cup too.

But the cooper S works is 6.7 to 60 as reported by Evo, and the cup as standard is 6.5 (I reckon its quicker) so there isnt gonna be anything in it?

Hartge Cooper S - 0-62 in 6.6. 0-60 isnt where the car shines as it aint 4wd. Mid range is where it shifts. Check out the torque figure. 240nm off the top of my head.

Cooper S works is 6.7 to 62 for the record too Cupsize. Check JCW website.

I dont want to rattle on about these .01s of seconds anymore as I dont want to be seen as an argumentative w**ker.
