Has anyone fitted a Quaife style gearknob on a clio?

I've always wanted one and now ave a track car to put one in, but I know they normally just thread onto a rod and the clio has lift reverse and no thread with the OE knob bonded on. Has anyone managed it? If so how?
Cheers

Quaiffe style gearknob? I'm a little confused i'm afraid....can you post a picture of what you mean.

This is mine currently;

Ahh, I was going to ask where the shiney lift reverse sleeve came from!
I expect I'll fit a megane shifter in the near future which has all the same issues as the clio one and is (I think) whats shown in the pic in my post @bashracing

The one in the above picture is a copy/universal one off ebay. Just needs drilling out to the right diameter. circa £20 a pop

I'd recommend the PMS shifter kit (as shown in my photo) to be honest. These gearboxes really don't like longer throw etc, and the PMS guys spent a long time testing and getting it right...

How do you mean longer throw? Most boxes the throw is limited in the selector mechanism in the turret and the gear stick throw is incidental? I know they dont like being shifted too fast, but thats a driving issue, not one of design?

The PMS kit isn't a short shifter. But it is redesigned from the gearbox back, including the gear linkage. Just wanging a longer 'stick' in the part in the car may cause problems as the box is notoriously weak. You are right though, it is mainly rushed changes that kill the boxes.

I don't design shifter kits though, hence why I bought PMS's, so the above may not be right! :wink:

the throw of the stick with the scenic set-up is the same as standard so you won't rush the syncro's any more than a clio set-up,
it wouldn't take much to knock up a piece of stainless tube as the lift reverse over the stick if you like shiny things.

I'm not fussed about shiney as long as its tidy, presentable and works, I'm tempted to go for the megane one and some new bushes, did you literally bore yours out and glue it on? Has it lasted ok like that? I'd have though epoxy and Nylon wouldnt give the best bond?

Cheers

Jumping on this thread. Is the standard gear knob removable from the stick at all? Or is it bonded on?
Want a quaife style knob.

Knob lol.
