Has cup production ended

Would I be right in thinking that Cup production has ended or is going to end real soon now?

I seem to remember reading a while back that there was some new EC rule coming in next year which states that all new cars must have ABS...is this true or did I make that up?

Ive been assuming that this is the reason that the 182 is arriving soon and bringing together the 172 and Cup models... is that a sensible assumption?

I spoke to a dealer a month ago and they said there were 150 cups left. Not sure how true this is though .

When I got mine there were very few available, so now will be even less!

cups are still avaliable but production finishes this year.we got a brand new one delivered this week.this latest one weve got is in silver as well.didnt know about that new ec rule though.ill ask about that one at work.

Theres a silver 172 Cup in the showroom at Arnold Clark Wigan (01942 225565) if anyones interested in one, not sure when it will be up for sale though. (must have only arrived there in the last week or so, not a spot of dirt on it).

As far as i know they are still producing the cups but for existing orders only. i.e. as far as anyone is concerned they have stopped. Apparently my motor is supposed to come of the line in 4 days, and be ready for pick up in 2 weeks. I guess we will see.

Production ends next week. In all about 2200 will have been produced, the final figure will be next week. ABS is required on all new cars around the middle of next year

Possibly me mate... literally a month ago... came to visit my sister in Cambridge... she lives down Union Road. Was the run in trip for my new Cup.

2200 Cups ? I know I see alot of them in Essex but spread over the whole of the UK thats still not very many. Just 1950 sold in Essex I guess

I first drove a Cup in July 2002 as my mate got one of the first ones.

For comparison purposes I posed a question on the Civic Type R forum to see if anyone knew how many CTRs had been made in the two years since they started: some guy who works for Honda reckons theyve made about 27,500 so far - I guess thats for worldwide distribution, but UK sales must account for a good 50% or so.
