Has the garage fobbed me off?

  Oyster Card
Basically today I've had the following done

Track rod end
Steering Gator
Rear left tyre
Wheel alignment

The steering wheel is now having to be put at 10oc to drive straight, I told matey who done the work this and he said the parts need to be worn in and the steering will correct itself?

Plus on top of that I've still got a humming sound and a click every turn from the wheel when i turn left which is apparently down to shot bearings, thus wanting another £180 to do the two bearigns in the front

I know mate I can get them done cheaper elsewhere as I probably wont be going back to this garage again but my concern at the moment is my steering wheel after paying £25 for wheel alignment etc..

Wheel alignment should include steering wheel to be central. They use a vice like clamp againt teh seat useually to lock wheel straight ahead before doing the rest.

Doesn't sound like they are saying the truth if they reckon it will sort itself out when everything has worn in. I have had alignment done several times and steering wheel is usually spot in within a degree so it being at 10 o clock is wrong. Unless you have had a steering wheel put on whilst it was out of alignment and will need refitting with wheels perfectly aligned, only thing I can think of.

The garage are talking out of their )rse.

The steering wheel should be straight. they have not done it correctly. There is no wearing in to be done, they are defo trying to fob you off.

Have you paid your bill yet? Don't if you haven't! We charge £20 I think for wheel alighnment and getting the steering wheel in the right place is part of the job. It sounds like they only adjusted one of the track rod ends, so putting it out.
If the car doesn't pull to one side, it would be easier to move the steering wheel yourself. Just remove the 21mm nut (Or 50torx bolt if new column) correct the wheel, and refit. (Don't forget to tighten up though)

Also check if it pulls to the side on hard acceleration / braking (careful in the wet and check nothing is behind you!). If it pulls at all take it back. They're talking shite about the rod end neading to bed in.

I'm pissed off mate, the only reason I had the work done was to cure a horrible gridning noise even after all this it hasn't been cured but the steering gator and track rod ends was needed. I'll go back down there tommorow and tell them to sort my tracking out properly I'll then go elsewhere for my bearing.
They probably think they can take the piss cuz I'm 17, I'd have stuck around to get them to redo my tracking but i literally had 15 mins to get to work, tommorow i wont take no crap from them.
Could it be a rear bearing as the front wheels have no play in them.

Just an update, I took it back to the garage today and spoke to another lad there he went out of his way to help me diagnoised my dodgy wheel bearing and put my tracking right I didn't even have to show him my recept, I guess it's just down to who you get "serving" you and not the garage in general.
