HD DVD Region-free?

Are HD DVD's region free? I.e. I can buy HD DVD's from anywhere in the world to play back through my HD DVD + 360......?

I believe so, at the moment they are region-free, but they * may * at some point be locked down to region.

Raclart says its your 360 that determines the coding NOT the HD drive.

i thought they were amazing at first but now i can't see what the fuss is about really, not jaw dropping any more, maybe i am just getting used to it but i watched a dvd the other day and didn't care that it wasn't a HD-DVD one.

if it was on the 360via vga it was upscaled anyway

i wish, it was a normal dvd using scart.

i have ordered batman and superman returns to hopefully impress me again.

Mission IMpossible 3 is a good disk, as is Fast and Furious Tokyo Drift. They do all vary though. Full metal Jacket on BLu Ray is dump!

have considered the MI boxset but i have heard that either the US or UK version is better than the other so just want to make the right decision on which one to buy.

I had full metal jacket sent to me by lovefilm over christmas and it was ok, nothing special though.

I have tokyo drift and tried to watch it over christmas, it looked good but was spoilt by it freezing and crashing a few times, i hadn't got a connection to live though so whether the 360 had a software update to fix that i am not sure but i hope so. It seems the 260 has a few problems with the special in film features, u-control or whatever it is, some don't work that well, whether an update will fix that though i am yet to find out.

I have the UK boxset, but did have the US version of MI3. There wasnt ANY difference fella. None what so ever

Got the boxset for £45 in HMV, if you wanna borrow them then send me a PM fella. I wont be watching them for a while again

thanks Ras, I think it was either MI or MI II that I heard was poor quality on the one version, think it may have been the UK version compared to the US version, will see if I can find it again, may have been on AVF.

Superman Returns is great in hd, one of the first disks with true hd audio(360 does not support though)
