HD LCD tv's.....Blurry

Just got a HD tv....and am running normal sky through the tv not Hi def and find the picture really blurry ......Is this the case with all LCD tvs blurry and ghosting? if watching anything other than HD

nope some are better than others maybe yours is just a bad one but sky really isnt a great source

well the tv i got aint exactly the best ....its only a cheapo goodmans £350 from tesco but works great with the 360 ....didnt know if this was the norm with all lcd tvs

tbh most arnt great with sky as they bandwidth they use is pap and they compress teh hell out of everything

but the smearing and ghosting is more likely to be your tv

Ahhh ok....So if this pictures sorta pixelated.....is this due to the tv as well or the source?

sounds just like pixelization mixed with macroblocking

dont worry about it. its the pq of the crappy SD source. Football is the worst.

mine is terrible on normal TV

on freeview its pretty good but watching football on it is still pretty bad (ghosting around the players/ball) although still very watchable

My sky used to be blurry on my samsung hdtv until i invested in some copper cored scart leads.

Dont spend hundreds on a hdtv then connect it to stuff using crappy comet/currys etc scart leads.

I got these and i dont see any now

What scarts are you using? If its a crappy black colour jobbie from a normal electrical store then yes id say so, mine used to be like that.

Like i say why people buy expensive hdtvs then use crap equipment to connect it i'd never know.


You wouldn't buy a ferrari then stick halfords oil in it would you, same principle

that middle pic does look rough............

have you slected rgb input off the scart..

I find on mine thats the best looking input off the scart

have you set your sky box to output rgb ??

An RGB scart gives the best quality picture because it only carries images and not sound meaning there is less chance of interference within the wire.

If i select the RGB output on the Sky settings my picture goes piss poor, its sharp using my RGB scart and having it set to PAL tho

Press your services button then select system setup then picture settings

you change it in there

So is there an optionwithin the sky menus to outpu RGB?

what other settings are best to use from the sky config?

The settings ove got are

Picture format: 16:9
Second location picture:4:3
Scart control:ON
Video output:RGB
Contrast:MEDIUM



Tv is watchable though....cant really complain for £350

If its already set to RGB just try changng it to pal and see what difference it makes
