HDMI lead

Any of you folks able to recommend a decent HDMI lead to link a PS3 to a HDTV?

Links appreciated!

Cheers :)

Can be closed/deleted.

I went for a Linx HDMI cable off of Play's sale for £12 delivered. Read that anything under 3M you can pretty much use string for, and theres nothing to choose between a £200 IXOS to a £5 Tesco value cable (source: Avforums).

Cheers.

Yea, this is what I don't understand. Digital is digital is digital. That's it.. I can't see how a top quality cable makes any difference (from a logical point of view!)

Indeed Daz, either the 1's and 0's get there, or they don't.

Anyway i'll update the thread when it arrives, although my TV won't do 1080p so I can't test that. Seems a decent cable anyway.

Well many people on AVforums have commented their findings on various leads, and for lengths sub-3m there's little/nothing between them. I was going to get a Mark Grant G1080 lead, but I couldn't justify the cost given peoples experiences.

That's right, short run cables will show no difference in quality so the cheaper the better :) Lidl sell one for £4.99

still not totally right the cheaper they are the more likely you are to have problems with them due to faulty joints etc

For £4.99 it's a risk that's easy to take :) No problems at all with my cheap lead, I can't remember where I bought it from.

McBunny...it's a cable mate, if it works then it works. Unless you swing off the cables, and use them for skipping they're not likely to break overnight. If they don't work, you take them back and get a replacement. Very simple.

I bought a Logik one from Currys for £20, seems to be fairly decent quality. They were selling some in House of Fraser for £100!!

i agree but there again how many times do you mind replacing it ?

I've owned the cable for over a year now, I used to use it with my V+ box, and it still works perfectly. Just because it is cheap does not mean it will break.

fine fine im just saying

Saying what though, that's the point lol.

I can appreciate that with SCART leads, using the crappy ones they always bundle isn't conducive to getting a decent picture, but it goes for VGA/DVI/HDMI cables, there really isn't a lot to choose between them. The likes of IXOS/Monster/QED would like us all to think so, but it doesn't seem to be the case.

If I was running 5-15m of cable, then i'd buy a better quality cable as resistance then becomes an issue, but over 'normal' applications, if it works - it works.

Least it seems that way from my reading.

i have a decent cable myself, extra shielding and less oxygen or something.

if all computer stuff is just digital and 1/0 etc and makes no difference on the cable then why do we have different categories of network cable offering different speeds? (cat 5E/Cat 6 etc) or am i missing that point?
