HDMI NO SOUND

Car  172 with k-tec sound
have a toshiba laptop high spec, but when i connect it to my hd lcd tv via the HDMI output there is no sound, so i cant listen to media player ect thru my surround speakers, was wonderin why:(

HDMI does not carry sound, you need to send the audio from the laptop to the TV into the audio in port (if the TV has one) with a separate lead from you laptop .

HDMI does carry audio....

The laptop hardware may not have the ability to carry the video and audio via HDMI so a separate audio source may be needed.

Argh right yes I remember now - my mac is connected via a dvi to hdmi cable, that is why I have had to connect another cable.

I have a toshiba laptop with hdmi, you need to go into control panel, then sound, and then make sure, hdmi is the defualt for sound, and bobs your uncle!

Any probs give me a shout!

^Or just right click on the speaker icon (near the clock) and go to Playback devices and set the HDMI as the default (if its there as an option)

i had this problem yesterday also! i have a dell laptop and i selected hdmi output as the default and then it worked!
