head gasket

Car  C63 AMG, F430 & 172
How do you prep a head and block for a new gasket. I’m fitting a new gasket today and there is shite all over the block, the head is getting skimmed so that’s not a problem

But the block has a lil bit of **** on it…. I don’t just want to scrub it down with some paper as the shite mite go in the jackets... how do I do it?

Also would you use that gasket sealant on the head along with the gasket?

wont that score the head.? i was thinking of blocking the gallerlys then a light sand?

^

and use a scotch bright pad type thingy to clean any other bits, and make sure you keep the bores clean!

if i had never done it before i would think it would to but being honest i've been instructed to use one of these a few times and they always do the trick.
i'd be wary with sandpaper of leaving scratches all over it but you don't learn anything without trying

sweet.. cheers guys..also one of the pistons has a crack in the top.. i use super glue and tinfoil this will sort it out yea?

sweet.. ill weld the piston to the bore to keep it down insted.. so i dotn put pressure on it as then it wont be used.
