Head unit problem - whoops

  Clio Imusic
Hi Everyone, I was trying to change the head unit in my clio Imusic this morning from the standard one to a JVC one I have.

anyway after much struggling I got it out. in the process of doing this i managed to create a spark (should have disconnected the battery I know!!) from the back of the old head unit and also caused the orange and grey wires out of the bigger black block of wires.

There now doesnt seem to be any power to the head units or to the lcd display that tells the time.

any help would be great as it is horrible with no sound at all!

(also, the iso adapter I have only has plugs for the 2 smaller iso blocks - is this ok?)

you will have blown a fuse.
if you have steering colum radio controls then they wont work if you dont have the correct bus conectors....

My mate did the same in his 1.2. Radio and LCD on same fuse just blown that. But you'll probably find your original head unit won't work again. His didn't

I'm guessing I need to plug the 2 wires back into the block though? i cant tell which wire goes where - anywhere I can find a diagram??

Thanks for your answers by the way.

Hey, I tried swapping the radio fuse with the horn fuse and the horn still worked. are there any other fuses I should be looking at?

the spark came from the ISO block with the red and black wires - do you think I may have fried this? if so should I just buy one of these:
http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/..._productId_180394_langId_-1_categoryId_165626

in the pcture of that product there seems to be a yellow red and black cable attached to the power block, in my clio I only see a red and black...

Not sure about the cable above sorry. But the fuse my mate blew wasn't the radio fuse it was a different one, I can't remember which one sorry. Check all your fuses until you see a blown one. If they are all ok, then it's obviously something else.

ahh that makes it a bit different then! thanks for letting me know about that!

I will have a play around and let you know what I find...

everything else seems to work fine, I have swapped fuses on everything to try and get an idea of what it may be but can't find anything. should I be checking the fuses under the bonnet? would it also help if i completely disconnect the battery to remove any chance of charge being stuck in the cables?

I have included pics of the wires below.

1) this is the block where 2 wires got disconnected

2) this is the power block where the spark came from

3) This is the block that i'm guessing has the speakers attached

I really appreciate your help so far - Thanks

there should be two metal pins left in the iso block where the two cables have come out

there are. they wont stay in and also, I dont know which wire goes where.
do you think these being disconnected is the reason for lack of power to head units and lcd display?

Also, I'm pretty sure the connector with the wires you pulled out, is the one that connects it to the dash display/stalk.
With your new headunit you won't plug this in as its specifically for the Renault Headunit, so it won't be needed. unless you've bought the stalk/display adaptors.

The one that sparked is the power half of the iso block, so I'm pretty sure you'll have blown a fuse. Look in the one on the end of the dash, and look for the picture of the headunit. That should at least get your headunit powered and working.

I did this in my previous car 5 mins before it was going in for part exchange and had a bit of a panic but it turned out to be a fuse PHEW!
