Headlight washers

What's the best way to block these off? Mine don't work and I want to blank them off anyway and nows the time as the drivers side one is just leaking screen wash out of it and dripping onto the floor.... So yeah, what's the easiest way to block them off?
Cheers :)

They're £12 new from Renault IIRC.

If you really must block them off, passenger side arch liner off, pull two pipes (leading to washers) off of T-junction (coming from washer bottle) and "screw" an M6 (IIRC) bolt in the end of the pipe.

Wouldn't do that - easier to disconnect the power to the pump that drives the headlight washers :) plus you get a better spray on the window! ;)

Get to it under the n/s scuttle panel (the inner one IIRC). Wrap the connection in electrical tape & connect it up again for MOT if you haven't went down the road of replacing jets with blanks
I know this as I had issues for my MOT this month - hope it's of some use to you

Surely if I just remove them though and put some blanks in there place, I can't get failed for them? (As they aren't there)

Also! I had an MOT done 4 days ago and it passed and they weren't working when it went for the MOT and nothing was said.

I reconnected mine as said above but my bumper was crushing the pipe behind the n/s headlight and no water came out of either side = failed it!

Hmm. Other people that put blanks in their place, what do they do come MOT time? It surely isn't a massive issue is it? Surprised they can fail you on something minor like that

unforetunatly Ollie if your car came with washers it must have them and they must be working....

you may have had a lazy/friendly MOT tester luckily ;)

Hmmm lucky boy lol most people are coming down harsh on them ! ive failed a few for not having them !! the laws are basically if the vehicle is fitted with xenon lights there must be some sort of wash and leveling system !

The ones with the blanks are more than likely cup models which done have xenons just normal lights mate

Nope, two garages (including the Kwikfit that tested it - took a chance there!) told me that they must work "if fitted". Mine are currently off the car and blanked off with electrical tape, passed MOT yesterday with no problem

I see that he's a tester, but two other garages (one very well known to the Scotlanders on this site, and the other being money grabbing bar stewards) have no issues with washers being removed.

Iirc the wording is that they "must work if fitted". So not having them fitted saw mine pass without even an advisory

Obvs it reads as a bit of a grey area but will be down to the tester's interpretation of the rules and tbh their knowledge of the car....

how many testers will know the difference between a cup model with xenons fitted compared to a non-cup with factory xenons?

Garage no.1 is a Renaultsport specialist, so they certainly know. Any other garage would surely see as soon as they turn the lights on?

......wait what?

not sure if srs....

how would you tell the difference between factory standard xenons and a car with oem xenons fitted after it left the showroom? (talking looking directly at the 2 whether they are turned on or not.....)

Don't believe that factory fitted comes into it. Must go looking for the wording again, but iirc any car with xenon lights must have working washers...if fitted

fairplay if that is the case, but lol at your previous reply lmao!

and you may be right because it could be the same as rear wipers no? I just remember my usual MOT tester warning me about fitting xenons in case another garage thought they were factory fitted...
