Headlights not working!

Obviously this is a serious problem so i jumped straight on here to try and find a solution :(

Basicly, i was driving around, parked up for a sec, went to drive off and the headlights have stopped working. The simply wont come on - automatic lights or manually. Every other light is still working and i've checked the fuse and its not that. So basicly i think its the stalk that needs to be replaced/fixed.

Anyone else had this problem?? Any idea's on how to fix it?

Thanks in advance, Joe xx

What sort of garage would be able to deal with this? Would i need to go to a renault specialist? Needs to be fixed quick :(

Auto electrician is best bet, but doesn't sound like a major issue so long as it's wiring/relay related.

Check the fuses, relays, if not those then the stalk. Otherwise could be the uch and £££, and it probably will end up being it too.

My sister just had an issue with one side of her car lights not working on her '07 plate clio. The passenger side light front and rear stopped as well as the 2 number plate lights.

We checked all fuses and they looked ok, but renault changed them anyway and it fixed the problem. That would be where I would start, change the fuses anyway as it's the cheapest option!

Look under the passenger footwell there will be a relay which has come loose on the uch on it most likly

Do what Edde says. I had this yesterday, my Xenons went out and I stuck my head under the dash to find the UCH and one of the relays had come loose, I pushed it back in - problem sorted.

The UCH is located under the glovebox on the nearside, take a torch and stick your head right in the footwell and look up, you will see some electrical components (it actually has UCH embosed on it). The relays hang upside down on the UCH toward the front of the car. Take a look, all will become clear.

When the headlights stop working, do the electric windows and wipers also stop working? Mine is doing this :(

Guess it depends on the exact fault, a relay is only for the lights so wont affect the windows ect. check fuses on dash in passenger side. other than that i dunno.

Thanks for all your help! :)

No peter, it was simply my headlights that wouldnt come on .. everything else worked perfectly! The sidelights, foglights, full beams, windows everything else worked fine. How weird :|

Cheers!

Muchos gracias for the replies in this thread. Xenons stopped working and thought it was going to mean a trip to the auto-electrician. Luckily though, it was just a loose relay under the glove box.
