Headunit for Christmas

seeing as my brother is getting the new xbox for christmas my dad genorously said that whatever they spend on him this year they are goin to put towards my new headunit. (sweet!)
so we are looking at around £200 - £250 i supose so what could i get? baring in mind i am going to be running my sony 150W front 3way speakers off of it and my GZ 100W back door speakers. i will then early january have the money to get my amp, subs and get it all fitted.

so could someone help me out because theres sooo many headunits out there, and i really dont know what to go for, ill just buy something that looks nice. lol

cheers, Shaun

oh yeh and does the clio screen with the time, temp. and current track list and tuner still work with a new headunit? or does it go blank or does it just show the time or what?

Pioneer or alpine is what i would advise look through find one with the best features in your budget. And doesnt matter how powerful the speakers are You will still onlybe supply them with around 20 odd watts of RMS when powered from a headunit.

Plus these big numbers they stick on speakers are the peak output it might only be at that for a fraction of a second.

And the screen depends on the headunit you pick most of the main brands you can get an adaptor for which will allow the screen and the stalk controls to still function with the aftermarket headunit.

Sony is a no go. The pioneers are nice but the only problem I have with the first one is that the screen is very blocky and doesn't really have a good enough resolution.
Now i've got a 9855R so i'm obviously gonna be biased but I think it really is the best one out of those.

i did like the look of that one actually, got a smart screen on it and menu layout, but its the bass and sound quality im really going for. Ive also found these which i will need to get my stalk working on the steering wheel.

also with this head unit what actually happens to the clio dash screen with the time and tempeature etc?? does it just not work any more or does it carry on showing the time and temp or does it still show time temp radio station and cd track?

That pioneer i put up would be fine 3 preouts 1 being a dedicated sub out so bass wouldnt be a problem. But i still say get the 9855R one of the best headunits around gonna be getting one for my new car myself.

The look pretty there just not so hot when it comes to actual ability although there fine for a lot of people. And some of there older headunits were amazing but the newer xplod stuff is shite.
