Heater fan keeps cutting out

This morning the fan wouldnt work at all. During the day it seemed to work fine but I only switched it to 2 for a couple of seconds. Tonight when I got home I tried switching it up to 3, it blew air for about three seconds then died. I left it for ten seconds and then it did the same again.

Any advice other than just fitting a new fan?
