Car  Mk5 Golf GTI :)
Ive had my car for about 3/4 months ish and the heat has never been great. Obviously its more noticeable now lol. There is some heat but not how it should be. My temp gauge gets to just over the quarter mark. Is that normal? And what do you think would solve the problem? And please dont say 'buy another car' lol

Dan

Maybe the heater matrix is on the way out? Does the P1 172 have climate controll? And may sound daft but have you messed around with the temp settings? :p

Hi mate. No it doeasnt have climate control. Ive read somewhere the heater matrix might need flushing out? Just checked in the car and the setting was on cold..... Not. Setting is on hot obviously lol

Dan

Hi mate, It could well be, what year is the 172? I would say the heater matrix is gone, I would personally take it to a local garage and get them to check it over. Wont cost you anything :)

Its an X reg 2000. Might go down the blocked heater matrix route. Do you reckon it would be a difficult job to flush the matrix out?

Dan

Pain in the ass lol. Dont get me wrong its livable but would like to get it to how it should be.

I know what you mean mate, esp in this cold weather! I cant see any guides on the removal of one sorry :(!! Loads for other motors but I cannot see any for 172s!!!

Yeah me too. Have done a search but nothing really comes up. Maybe someone on here might be able to help me.......

Dan.

Prob confusing myself and you here but maybe this can help??

sounds like the heater matrix is partially blocked. Not to bad to change on the older clios you dont even have to completly remove the dashboard, just unbolt it and pull it forward about 6 inches to give you room to move the heater box around slightly.

Cheers mate, but ive allready read through that. Will ask the lads in work to have a nosey for me

Dan

Surely this is something else as the engine is not getting up to temp?

So everyone can sleep easy lol. Replaced the thermastat, had a general check over and everything is spot on.:D
