Heater Resistor Location Help Needed *pic attached*

Car  2002 Clio Sport 172
Hello,

I'm having a few problems with the speed on my Climate Control Unit, the bars on the display move up and down, but the fan doesn't change speeds, then when I go to turn the unit off, the fan speed gets higher  and I can only stop it by turning the ignition off. (i also had a horrible buzzing noise which was coming from the fan in the interior light bit, thankfully a quick clean and it seems a bit quieter)

Had a look on here and someone said it maybe the resistor pack, which was located under the drivers side scuttle panel.. can anyone tell me what I'm looking at, and do I have a pollen filter here somewhere also?! I'm confused, any help appreciated.

The resistor is not in that photo its to the right more, the pollen filter is under that piece of plastic where that piece of wiring loom is held, undo the 6mm bolt pull top off and replace filter.

what are those red and black wires for in the very bottom left of the first picture? thats where the resistor pack is in non sport clios

that the live and the earth to the fan motor, the resistor is in the second pic all the way to the right has the block connector with 5 wires on it from here 2 6mm bolts and out it comes put the new one in bolt it back and away you go.

Thank you, you've been a really great help.. cheers. Will get a new one even though this one looks ok to me, and doesnt smell burnt etc. Pollen filter has seen better days though, looks like its never been changed.. thank you, I owe you one!

I cleaned the unit up, only for it now to play up again.. so guess Im going to have to bite the bullet and hand over nearly £100 to Renault :( Boo!

This exact problem has just started in my 2002 172, it just blows hot air automatically when the heater is off and when I turn the heater on it just blows a bit less! Was it the resistor pack you managed to fix? (that subsequently broke again ?)

Oh so hang on.. this is the right bit and i need to prize that silver block bit off the bits where the wires are?

Cheers Matt. so its below the thing i have in my hand that ive taken out? and i assume i just have to unplug what i have done now, and then below that undo them 6mm nuts to remove that bit?

Ive seen that there is a difference to the ones with A/C
