Heating only blows cold...

Got a ph2 172. heating was working fine, then one day it would only blow cold air, the car was fully warmed up and the temp gauge was sitting in the middle, as usual.

Had the heating turned right up to 26c or 27c, which ever max is anyway, but it was still only cold air coming out.

Then next time i was out, it was fine.

Mowever, it is now cold again and has been for the last week, as you know, its winter and in Scotland, its rather cold. The last thing i want is cold air blowing at me.

My thermometer is saying its 30+ degrees now (this was working fine before)

all the coolant levels are fine in the tank, bang on between min and max.

Any ideas guys?

Thanks, Liam

Thanks edde, do you know what I can try and do to fix this? I'm no use with mechanics so a detailed description would be great if you could, cheers!

Depends if you want to get your hands dirty worth unplugging the temp sensor which is in the light by the rear view mirror and seeing if you can prove the sensors broken if so new sensor easy job.

If its the motoro or the cogs its more complicated do a search someoen had this problem ages back bit of a pain to get to it all but the parts themselves are cheap enough

You mean the temp sensor is in the square panel with the interior light? Or is it somewhere else? Ill try that first.

I did a search and seen someone saying its was about 10. Hours labour. Thanks mate

My 182 has climate and I've not got the sensor plugged in and it still works fine.

Have you tested it since plugging back in?
