2010 Clio RS Cup
Hi all,
I’m new to all things Renault and looking for some help.
Acquired a 2010 Clio Rs Cup a few weeks back. 62k on the clock. Lovely little thing. Had it checked out by Renault soon after the purchase. They confirmed it was in amazing condition and had been treated with great care. Full service history and receipts of all events. Nothing showed on diagnostics. Happy days. Fell in love with her 😉.
Last week I had to help start a Kia Sedona with jump leads. I followed the procedure by the book to avoid any incidents. I wasn’t aware an ECU could be screwed up by doing this but I can confirm my car has been running like crap ever since. Feels like it’s got 100bhp until it hits 5000 rpm before some power kicks in.
I took it to Renault yesterday who did a diagnostics check - they were kind on the bill as I’d only had it looked at 2 weeks earlier so they sympathised. They knew it had no issues 2 weeks ago.
They found an error with the cam shaft positioning sensor and reset it and said hopefully that’ll sort it. If it doesn’t bring it back and we’ll have to do a full diagnostics (whatever that is compared to partial?)
I drove it home yesterday and rang them to confirm it wasn’t running well at all. They said the ECU would need to re learn it’s workings as it’s been reset, see how it goes over the next week and again if it’s not up to speed we’ll have to do a full diagnostics run.
Hoping to help it bed in and learn it’s workings some more I took it out again yesterday for half an hour and onto the motorway. Again very poor power and a lot of noise / effort it trying to get to 5000rpm before I kick and on the motorway it struggled to pull at all especially from 70 onwards in 5th or 6th gear. It really was struggling.
Have any of you experienced this misfortune? Is it an easy fix? I really hope so 🙏🙏🙏
Any guidance greatly appreciated
Thanks,
Mike
