Hi all
Already got some help from these boards, but thought I'd better introduce myself properly.
Im a new member on here from Wiltshire (UK) having joined recently after picking up my 02 plate 172 on Wednesday. I decided that while my Mondeo was perfectly able to commute me to and from work, it was so utterly boring I needed something 'fun'. I can do the boring family car thing later in life
So far my plans are to have a laugh in the 172, maybe track day it. Go to the 'Ring at some point and just enjoy myself. Im a fan of the smaller engined light 'rev the nutts of it' cars as opposed to big engined barges. Ideally I'd love a Lotus Elise, but the 172 is all my budget could stretch to
Anyway, picked the car up Wednesday and it promptly rained all week... typical. I did go to a meet with a load of people from another forum yesterday and it was dry for the most part, and through some strategically placed red traffic lights (I wasn't so please at the time I was sat at them) I ended up with 10 miles of Hampshire country road with nobody in front of me . We all know how that went, grinning all the way!
Anyhoo, after having done that and spent some time on these forums I have come to some conclusions:
- I MUST change the budget tyres that are on it now for some proper Michelins as soon as I can afford it. Under steer is so disappointing
- Im definitely taking out the 15mm space things under the seat fixings asap. Being 6'4", you can imagine how I need all the extra space I can.
- Im definitely changing the steering wheel to one smaller. Although its proving difficult to find one and retain an airbag (Ive got a thread open about this elsewhere)
But other than that, i'm just out to enjoy myself. Got a pleasing 37mpg on a motorway/A road trip too, so I know if I'm carefull I wont go throwing money away on fuel either.
But anyway, that's me, see you around the boards!
