I don't own a clio yet, but my heart is set. I viewed my first today, a 172 in Romford, having never been in a clio before, it did feel like the car I would love to drive next. I felt such a noob trying to find the lever to pop the bonnet, first thing I hit was the steering adjust
, thankfully no one was watching, (I had a Ford fiesta handed down to me as my last and only car)
I didn't really know what I was looking for, but some of the threads on here helped, the car was a 127k 53 172 for £1.6k iirc, it had many dents and bumps outside, interior was ok(ish), the engine sounded ok, didn't seem if there was any knocking or leaks, but I don't really know as this was my first viewing of a 172.
The car been advertised for a while now, yet not sold so I knew there would be issues, heres a couple, they can't tell me if the belts have been done recently, so thats another £500+, the steering has melted (£?), cracked wing mirror (£?), the clutch seems very stiff (£???), dents on hood from pushing it down and dent on rear wing (£???) ect ect.
The viewing really was a way for me seeing what a RS clio might be like, so now I have somthing to compare with, perhaps there is someone here on the forum not too far from Romford who could advise and maybe join me on another viewing.
I think I might have to only buy from here, as i'll know the car has been looked after!
