Hello everyone, i'm Jon from Leeds. Bought a 172 Cup a few weeks ago and am loving the nippy little bugger! It's pretty tidy for a 10yo hot hatch and i plan to put it back to full standard and mint it up. It does much more MPG than my old IS200 when thrashed than the Lexus managed on a steady cruise.
Immediate jobs to do:
Belts - last done 5 years ago on the 28th of October!
Weired play in steering when turning left at motorway speeds (wishbones? Inner track rods or ends? Rack!?) Its like turn the wheel a bit - nothing - then bang front end suddenly reacts.
Jobs planned for future:
Wheel refurb
Front end respray
put standard airbox back on
Get rid of Group N mounts
Get some proper tyres on!
Jobs done:
Glued a bit of dash (where air comes out to clear screen) as it had a horrible rattle
Wiggled wires under passenger seat to get rid of airbag light
Oil and Filter
Up for meets, check out your cars & see what can be done etc. Been trawling the threads on here there is so much useful info ive saved a few quid already.
