Hello from South East

Justin16v

Hello, I'm new here and come from sunny Essex. Only bought my Clio yesterday, a 1.8 16v Mk1 and got it dirt cheap, a non runner but I think all that needs doing is a new battery. Can anybody tell me what the container on the left hand side of the engine is? On mine this doesn't have a cap and you can see black liquid just sitting there. I'm completely new to Clios, my other car is a Corsa SRi so french cars are a completely new thing to me. I'll post up pics later this week.

been a few years since I had my valver but I think it's the power steering fluid...

welcome to the club by the way! Get some pics up of the car...always nice to see a bit of old skool cool...

The header tank is at the back of the engine where the heat sheild is (if your car has one)

iirc the brake fluid reservoir is the quite small plastic rectangle shaped bit also at the back of the engine (it's on the bulk head too) you'll see it by following the brake lines (they are green)

- don't quote me though as it's years since I had one.

Welcome fellow Essex'er!

Did you get my pm?

No PM received.

I'll take it that it's the power steering then, I'll get a new cap later this week, any ideas how much they are from Renault?
