HELP!!! Deep scratches on my 172cup

  clio rs
sum1 keyed my clio few days ago and its really putting me off.
I went to halford they said its too deep. i dont wanna pay big money, so a respray job is out the question.

I got the scatch remover company cuming monday to take a look but over the phone he said im looking at 300 pound. There must be sum1 who can help me.

The scratch is very deep, u can see it from across the road & feel it.

Maybe get it compound polished then build a big layer of polish and wax ontop? might not cure it but may make it alot duller. Maybe go and ask a local body shop about compound polishing would surely be cheaper than £300

sorry to hear about that mate, someone keyed my tailgate :(

Afraid to say that won't polish out, a polish will do little or nothing to improve it- will need paint in it first, weather as a local type repair and wetsanded to make it look better - or painting properly.

touch it in with the paint, never spray it. spray it into the cap, then use a small brush, leave the paint rise over the body slighty, leave it a few days to harden propily, sand down level and then polish.

If that was my car I wouldn't be going any where near it with a spry can.

What you need is a large bottle of touch up paint & high quality lacquer.

Get your self a high quality, small, fine paint brush. Then slowly begin to fill the scratch with the colored paint.

Do this small layers at a time letting each covering dry thoroughly before you apply the next (leave for approx 24hours between coats).

Keep doing this until the colored paint is slightly raised above the surface of the original paint. No more than 1mm max.

Once the paint is at this stage you should then flat it back with 2000 or higher grade wet & dry. You should aim to get the paint completely level to the touch.

When you done doing this polish it with a compound polish to try & blend the line.

Lastly using another fine paint brush cover the scratch with the lacquer & repeat the flat & polish procedure.

Hopefully you should loose most if not all the scratch.

Thanks Mike

When my mate had his car from renault (2nd hand) it had a few scratches on it.. he went back to Renault and complained and they sent a guy out with a pot of paint (matching his cars colour code) and he used a cocktail stick to lightly apply the paint into the scratches and they vanished.

Similar method as to using a very very fine brush..

Hopefully you can get it sorted out!
