Help fitting Alpine headunit in Trophy please

  Trophy 265/500
Hi, hopefully getting my Trophy in the next couple of weeks, but will need to replace the OEM headunit fairly sharpish, lots of MP3 discs will be getting dusty otherwise. I'll also need something to cover the rattles ;)

According to the blurb, Alpine headunits are compatible with most steering wheel controls and secondary displays. Does anyone know if any harnesses, adaptors etc are needed to fit the units (and ensure the controls on the wheel still work). If it's just a swap in, swap out, I'll do it myself to avoid fitting costs.

Keeping MP3 function and wheel controls intact are my big two points, at some stage I'll be looking for advice on swapping out the speakers too. Not bothered about 6 x 9's etc, just some new units of same size.

BTW I'm looking at the 9847R, so I can plug my pod in at some point.

Thanks in advance

I fitted this in mine a few months back.

At the moment there isn't an adaptor to allow you to use the display or stalk controls on an early 05 > Clio. Earlier models are fine, but they made changes earlier this year.

I ordered the adaptor I thought I needed and it didn't work, so I emailed http://www.incartec.co.uk/ and they confirmed they are working on a new adaptor.

I'm happy with it, wanted something that wasn't too obvious, and didn't light up like a Christmas tree and obviously played MP3s. That one is dark too so matches the dash pretty well.

Glide strip is a bit of a gimmick and can be a pain when trying to use it in a car with a ride as hard as the Trophy, my finger keeps coming off the button.

I think I'll mail incartec and see if they have sorted the new one out yet.

Winner, that would be best of all worlds. Did you upgrade your speakers at the same time as the head?

Know what you mean about the slidy thing, I was looking at the 9855 too, but thought I'd rather have a day hacking round Donnington than have the tweakier head.

No, I didn't bother, I doubt I will to be honest. One thing I must do though is find out just what's rattling on the panel just beihind the drivers seat when anything with any bass is on. It's driving me mad.

I've got a 9855R and have changed the speakers and they made a phemonimal difference the standard renault ones really are quite poor in comparison. Didn't replace them with anything special (should have spent a bit more really) just put some JBL GTO526s in the front and back they were a direct replacement.
